Hi ladies. Like I blogged on Friday I did end up going shopping at my local City Chic store, and boy did I shop up a storm! Pretty much as soon as I saw this blue lace skater dress on the rack I knew it had to be mine. Its not only the perfect cut for my shape (I've always loved skater style dresses) but the pretty blue lace was speaking to me in ways I can't explain, its just so darn pretty! Also being a stylist means that I'm privy to seeing fashion collections and lookbooks from designers ahead of seasons, and I can let you in on a little secret, lace is going to be huge this winter, as is navy. So this dress is going to get a lot of wear from me, that's for sure. Perfect for warm summer days like today with some sandals and a great bag and then in winter I'll just add tights and a chicly cut blazer for an on trend lace look. I love trans-seasonal pieces like this, don't you?

I'll admit my style is a little out there and my love of socks and sandals is a little controversial for most, but you could easily style this with some classic black pumps for a chic and classy wedding look.

Hey guys. How amazing is the latest mod collection at City Chic? I am in LOVE with so many of the pieces and am actually heading out the door as I type to shop up a storm at my local City Chic store. I'm going to try on so many things from the collection but the number one on my must have list is the dress in the outfit below. I mean, I love sheer, I love the collar trend and I love shirt dresses so what's not to love about this dress? It's basically my dream dress.

Aw! I miss you all!

I better talk about London before the pangs of homesickness gets to me! I've had a really lovely week. I'm heading off on a wee road trip tomorrow up through Scotland with Darcy - but wanted to tell you what I've been up to and what I'm loving instore at City Chic this week.

This week, here in London, I 've been super busy doing some freelance days in at the BBC. It was quite exciting - I was working on an amazing documentary for release later in the year. VERY different to the type of material I usually work on - so it was quite a good challenge!

Also, I went to the launch of the latest UK based Underwear Range by Celebrity Stylist Gok Wan... It was pretty fab and I got to see Gok, himself!

Next week, I'm attending a big event in London for UK Bloggers called Plus London Two. There will be OVER 100 plus-size women and bloggers at the event and I can not wait. I'm sure we'll talk fashion, shopping and style! It will be an amazing event and I plan to wear City Chic. I get LOADS of questions about the brand when I'm out here in London and it's nice to feel like I can share details on my favourite brand with so many other girls.

I am contemplating what to wear... I know some girls will go all out in glitzy dresses and bling, while others will keep it cool and casual! I think a signature style City Chic dress with wicked accessories and great boots is the way to go... And at the moment, I have plenty of options! I am SO in love with the current range.

What a stylish way to start the year off! MOD is such a distinct trend, it’s so sophisticated and I looove it. The most amazing thing about this collection is how versatile the pieces are. I think it’s important to have a few items in your wardrobe that you can re-invent as the trends change. Reading previous blog posts from the lovely Em & Hope and listening to you girls voice your opinions in store about seeing the fabulous clothing on a variety of body shapes has inspired me!! Working for City Chic and Freelancing in makeup artistry has given me the best of both worlds so I decided it was time to combine the two and involve a regular customer in a photo shoot featuring her Favourites from the new MOD collection.

Over the weekend I teamed up with Ashleigh Easthope (regular SA customer) and Beauty/Fashion Photographer Jacqueline Clare Morris (who is also a CC Shopper) J. We had previously discussed the outfits & knew we wanted to keep the images simple but stylish and a little sexy. Despite the heat (It was seriously hot in SA) we got through makeup and styling and ended up with some fabulous photos that show a gorgeous, curvy girl comfortable in her own skin.

Going MOD on the Gold Coast

Hi Gorgeous ladies, just a quick post from me today. I am on Holidays this weekend at the Gold Coast for the Big Day Out Festival. I am having the time of my life! I just got back from a lovely dinner at the Casino in Broadbeach wearing my new favourite dress. My favourite from City Chic's MOD Collection the Ice Skater Dress in black (also available in Blue). I am wearing a Size M in this dress and I am absolutely in love with it! Thankfully it's quite cool on the coast today and very windy so I could wear it comfortably! I love the fit, the style, the sleeves and of course the belt! It really is the perfect 'Hope Dress'.

I am really loving the MOD collection, it would have to be my favourite collection in a while. I would love to see how you wear your favourite Mod outfit. Don't forget to upload your photos to City Chic's Facebook Page.

I got the FEVER!

Don't you just love that the crazy season is over and City Chic (both in Australia and in the STATES) has loads of new, great items in stock. I saw from my last post, that a few of you got some great items in the sale - and I LOVE that. Always so exciting... but heck - NOTHING beats NEW stock! I'm LOVING all the Mod Looks and am so excited to order myself some new items tomorrow when even MORE come in...

In the sale, I got myself the Aztec Fever Top and I adore it. I've been having a super relaxed week - catching up with friends, running errands and enjoying the mild winter here in London. This top has easily fitted into my everyday look and I like how I can wear it through the day and then to the pub on a night.

You'll have seen in the last few months, to supplement my DRESS ADDICTION (ARGH)!! I've started wearing shorts and my little skirt a bit more. I'm LOVING it. Until recently it had been AGES since I'd worn a top and I am so pleased I've re-embraced them.

Do you all go through clothing phases? My look is pretty defined by now, but I do flux between what I enjoy on a day to day basis.

For today's post - I have paired the Aztec Fever Top with a couple of CLASSIC City Chic pieces - a simple, comfortable denim skirt and ruffled bolero top.

Hot under the collar

Peter Pan collars have exploded onto the fashion landscape thanks to celebrities such as Alexa Chung and designers like Calvin Klein, DKNY and Marc Jacobs who have all made the look their own. The cute as pie collar detail works best in black and white with minimal accessories, the collar itself is the accessory. Girly and yet lady like chic at the same time the peter pan collar is a fun trend to play with right now.

Oh lovelies! Over the sales, I managed to get my paws on the AMAZING City Chic Plait Shoulder Tunic (sold out online) and today - with the sun shining at 8am - I couldn't resist wearing it. Hmm.

Foolish me! Of course, by 9am in the UK Winter - clouds had arrived and I was glad to have a coat! I must say though, this is such an amazing, comfortable dress. It is made of a luscious jersey material and I love the shoulder cutouts... There's also a sneaky keyhole in the cleavage that let my boobies have a little air. On a braver day, I might even replace my black bra with a red one! Woot WOO!

I teamed the dress with some cute CC Lace Leggings and some knee-high boots. Looking at these pictures - I can see my pale winter complexion blazing out!

I must say, I mostly wore this for myself today. I really knew this morning, that there was no way I could really get this dress "out and about" on the streets of London... What with it being freezing! But I wore it in the shops! I felt FAB and kind of lazily attractive. Does that make sense? It's one of those dresses - kind of slouchy and flowy but also effortlessly sexy.

What about yourself? Did you get amazing things in the sales? You can see from this shot - I headed to a jewellery store today to pick up a bargain! Sales here in the UK are just about to end...

She's a Mod yeah yeah!

The minute I saw City Chic's latest collection 'Mod' The Mint Chicks cover of 'She's a Mod' blasted in my head. Mod inspired fashion is one of my favorite styles of Fashion. I adore the plain black and white palettes, the neck lines and the gorgeous dresses. When I think about Mod icons Debbie Harry (Blondie) and Twiggy always come straight to my head, Twiggy was a front runner in the Mod scene and is now a Fashion icon. City Chic have modernized the Mod look and adapted it to suit our curvier figures. When the collection was released I noticed there were a few fans who were concerned about the lack of colour, I personally love it, I LOVE black and to me I use my all black outfits as a blank canvas and accessorize with coloured accessories or make up. These are a few of my must have Mod items so far;

Ice Skater Dress - My jaw hit the floor when I saw this dress, to say that I am in love is a major understatement. I love the sleeves, the length, the little belt, to me it's the perfect Black Dress. It can be worn with low heeled peep toe shoes as an office dress or accessorized for the perfect night out, I would wear it with my red peep toe wedges, red nails and red lipstick and I would wear my hair out and back comb the back to give me a real Mod vibe. If you wanted to brighten up the dress you could always change the belt for a coloured one, even a thicker waist belt, add a long coloured necklace and paint your nails to match a bold lipstick. I need to make this dress mine!

Miss Graduate Jacket - This Blazer is stunning! The cut is gorgeous and I adore the white detail. I know it's hard to think about Jackets in the current heat but come Winter this would become a wardrobe staple! Extremely versatile, again it could be worn as office wear or with your favourite party dress, even as a warm cover up for your Summer Maxi dress.

Rouched Front Basic Top - Another wardrobe staple, for me this top is a must have! Currently available in three colours it's the perfect top. The 3/4 Sleeves are a great length and it can be worn with jeans, shorts, under a sleeve less dress, or with high waisted skirts, they are also thin enough to wear under layers in Winter.

I love City Chic's latest collection, there are many more items on my 'wish list' but these are my top three favourites so far.

Don't forget there are plenty of Sale items left online and in store for a limited time. My favourite item I picked up was the Fringed Kimono (a bargain for $20). Make sure you share your sale bargains as well as your own Mod looks on the facebook page.

Towards the end of last year, I did a really popular post featuring some of the amazing girls from the City Chic Facebook Page... I have decided to try and do this as a semi regular feature as it will showcase lots of different women, in lots of different, FIERCE - City Chic looks... Oh yeah.

Hayley (below) posted her outfit for Christmas Day to City Chic's facebook page and it made me so excited - the sunshine, swimming pool and sunglasses are LOVELY and Hayley looks amazing!

I asked all the girls featured:

I love that City Chic's clothes are so stylish and cater for women like me that adore their curves, and let me express myself the way I want to without being judged. I have recently purchased some lingerie that I love & of course my husband also loves & it makes me feel so sexy.

I also love that I can walk into my local store and buy anything I like, without being limited to a tiny plus sized section which usually have baggy, potato sake looking clothes or being looked at like "what are you even doing in this shop - nothing will fit you".

AND (!!) I love when City Chic has sales also - hubby doesn't exactly love this as much as me (something about a credit card being in debit all the time!)

Another reader picked up a bargain via the Stateside City Chic Site in the amazing City Chic sales... Lauren (below) is wearing the Pink Tulle Prom Dress...

And you know it, I asked Lauren - What she loves about CC!!

I adore City Chic because, every now and then, they'll come out with a piece that you have to have. The piece that will make you a talking point - that will change the tone of a whole event. Sometimes, that fashion choice can define your whole outlook on something. I love knowing how I'm going to feel wearing for a whole evening just by putting on some beautifully crafted fabric.

I totally agree with Lauren that clothing and how we feel about ourselves in that clothing can help us feel great for a whole evening! Comfortable, Confident and Sexy goes a LONG WAY!!

Finally - I got an email from Kerrie in Australia. Kerrie (below) has been in Australia for over a year, having moved across from New Zealand! Kerrie told me about hitting the Australian stores and loving CC clothes!

And of course, Kerrie told me what she loves about City Chic!

Every time I go into City Chic there are lovely ladies helping me out… I think CC makes you feel comfortable going into the store with their beautiful smiles and sexy style.

I had never worn swimwear until I found it instore one day and I tried it on. I thought it would be another piece that wouldn't be long enough and to my surprise it fitted me like a glove! When I got to the beach I walked around with such pride! Im 6ft tall and have found it hard to find things long enough, but at CC they cater to every type of body and I love that I can go in and always walk out with jeans that will touch the floor, or a top that will cover my tummy or even a maxi that falls nicely!

My favourite item would have to be my Pink "So Cute" Dress that I have worn about 100 times over! I have these in all colours and love to add accessories and belts etc etc.!

These girls are all pretty amazing and I am so pleased they've let me feature them here on the City Chic blog. They are also from all over and this post helps emphasise how many of you girls are loving CC. I adore the different looks here - as well as the different use of accessories and personal flair.

A very CC Christmas

I have noticed recently on the City Chic Facebook page many of you are very passionate about seeing City Chic showcase their fantastic clothes on a variety of different body shapes. Firstly I just wanted to say that the City Chic models are all beautiful and do such an amazing job. I had the pleasure of meeting Courtney at our 'Blog meet' earlier this year and she is as stunning in real life as she is on camera with a great personality to match. City Chic try to show their products in many different lights, one of their main 'alternate' ways of showing you their fantastic clothes is through this Inside Chic blog. All of us bloggers are different body shapes, we all are different sizes and also have different tastes in fashion, this blog is City Chic's way of giving you more. More ways to see different sizes representing City Chic, more entertainment through our posts, and also a way for you to sometimes get involved in posts or to be able to comment and give us feedback. I love City Chic, I love the clothes, I love the stores, I love everything the brand stands for and represents. To me City Chic isn't just a fashion store, it's a community that is able to reach and unite its customers through Facebook and a blog. I have made many new friends through the love of City Chic. As this is my last post for 2011 I wanted to involve some of my new friends in this post and also use it as a way of showing different sizes representing the brand. I asked my new friends to show me what they would be wearing on Christmas Day and why they chose their outfit. Here are the lovely ladies and their choices;

Debi is wearing one of the fabulous dresses from the Nauti-Cool collection in a Size M. Debi had this to say about her choice; "I love this dress, it's cute, comfy, and girly without being over the top."

Jodie is wearing the Stripe Military Girl Dress (CURRENTLY ON SALE) in a Size M. "I'm wearing this dress for Christmas because it's functional and cool. I love how sexy it makes me feel! I feel like I can do anything, it just gives me so much confidence!"

Tash is wearing the Printed Lace Back Tunic in a XL and the 3/4 Tights in a L. This is what Tash had to say about her gorgeous outfit; "I absolutely love all of the Lace Back Tunics! They would definitely be my ultimate City Chic item! It's great to have plus sized clothing that makes you feel sexy, confident, and feminine."

Stacey is wearing the Knot Front Dress in a Size S. Stacey said; "I love this dress, especially for Christmas! It's Red and very flattering, it makes me feel very Mrs Claus."

I, like Tash decided to wear the Printed Lace Back Tunic (I'm wearing the Size M and teamed it with my City Chic Military Bolero from earlier this year). I absolutely love City Chic's Tunic range and am slowly building up my collection. I love how versatile this Tunic is, I was wearing it with full length leggings and black peep-toe wedges off to a Christmas party but I could also team it with 3/4 leggings and sandals for a Festival or BBQ. I love the frill detail around the chest area and of course the print!

I'd like to thank the girls for taking the time to snap some photos and send them to me, I think everyone looks amazing in their City Chic finest! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and have a great New Year!

Merry Christmas from the beach in Sydney

Just a quick post to wish all you lovely ladies a very Merry Christmas. My Christmas day is nearing the end here in Sydney, Australia, but I know its only just beginning for many of you City Chic fans around the world. I spent the day on the beach with family, first Bronte beach for a picnic lunch and a swim then we walked over the picturesque cliff top walk to the famous Bondi beach for some sunset fish and chips. Was the perfect day to break out my new City Chic embroidered maxi dress and my much loved City Chic fringed sheer kimono which are both currently sold out online but may still be in store come tomorrow for the sure to be fantastic BOXING DAY SALE!!! Good luck with the sale and I hope that your Christmas is/was as fantastic as could be.

First off ladies, THANK YOU so much for the great response to my post last week. I got emails, FB messages and comments and I wanted to say that I really appreciate them all. But for today's post something a little more celebratory... I Love Christmas! I adore spending beautiful, personal time with the people I love and feeling so fortunate for another year...

I find the Pre-Christmas sales maddening though! I LOVE TOOOOO many things! I have seen LOTS of you girls going just crazy with the amazing 50% off sales that have been running on the Aussie City Chic site and American City Chic site!

My choices for the upcoming festive celebrations...

For Christmas - The Knot Front Dress! Before anyone yells at me about Red being a Christmas Cliche - I just want to say... I don't care! It is SOOOO pretty. My FAVOURITE Christmas photo of myself (ever) is a Christmasy one from 2006 (right). I am in a City Chic dress... it's red(!!) and I look totally like one of Santa's Helpers. I STILL have the dress - and I have worn it SO MUCH that by now, I have kept it for nostalgia, more than anything else!

Red is an amazing colour that absolutely brightens up a room - for those of you working it this Christmas - Heck Yeah, Ladies!

For New Years, I am loving LOTS of City Chic looks, but my pick for a warm Aussie New Years would be the Coral Ruffle Rumba Dress. HOT.

Hmm... BUT, if you aren't into dresses, the Black Hot Weave Top with a pair of City Chic jeans would be AMAZING too.

Look out girls summer is here and City Chic gives us some seriously hot styles to ensure we are looking nothing short of fabulous this summer. Here are a few in store favourites.

Floaty Tops & Kaftans with bright prints & colours:

These tops are the perfect way to introduce colour into your wardrobe. They are light weight and the band at the bottom helps hide any tummy problems (woo hoo). You can wear them with denim shorts and sandals for a casual look or black pants, nice heels and a bolero for a dressier occasion.

Kaftans are a must have this summer. You can layer these with a plain cami or boobtube over jeans/shorts for a quick and effortless outfit. Add some City Chic accessories to complete the look.

Lace back jacket

What a gorgeous jacket. I love the ¾ sleeve with lace cuff, it gives the jacket that little something extra special. It drapes beautifully from the front with an angled hem and the back gives a nice shape with pleats and pretty lace.

The Harem Pant:

Usually I survive summer in dresses and denim shorts. However I have been eyeing off the Harem Pant trend since it came out earlier this year. I’ve tried so many pairs on but I always found they didn’t sit right or didn’t feel as comfy as they look like they would. Lucky for me & just as I was about to give up too, City Chic came out with the Relax Harem Pant. Ladies I am proud to announce we have a winner!! These are THE comfiest pants I own! As soon as I tried them on I knew I would be living in them all summer. They are made from a fabulous light weight fabric that hangs beautifully on your legs and the elastic waist makes them extra comfy. The rouched skinny leg is perfect for showing off a pair of hot wedges, stylish sandals or even your fresh pedicure in a comfy pair of thongs. I’ve worn them so much since getting them that my sister has banned me from wearing them to this Sundays High Tea hehe.

LWD - The Little White Dress

Everyone knows how versatile a LBD (little black dress) is in ones wardrobe but not everyone knows the same can be said about a LWD (little white dress). Especially this Summer with white being such a huge trend. White just goes with everything but I think it looks particularly cute teamed with brown accessories which is what I did here, teaming my City Chic Summer Lovin white Broderie Anglaise dress $119.95 AUD with an old wooden necklace from a craft market, my always handy City Chic brown leather belt $39.95 AUD and my recent opshop score of the year, a vintage brown basket bag.

Like most parts of Australia it has been pretty cold where I've been (in the last month I've been back and forth between Melbourne and Sydney a lot for family stuff) so I teamed my City Chic Summer Loving Dress with some leggings for some warmth, but when those Summer days finally arrive I'll gladly bare my legs in this cute as frock.

As always I'm still digging the socks with sandals look. I know its not everyone's cup of tea but for me it just adds that something extra to an outfit. In the photo you can see just how nice the Broderie Anglaise embroidery detail is on the dress, I always fall for Broderie.

I thought a lot about what I should post on here today. And because I follow the facebook page, I thought I might talk a little about myself.

Of all your bloggers here on Inside Chic, only one of us would ever really define ourselves as a model. All of us are really normal girls, who wear City Chic and LOVE fashion. A few of you recently discussed your desire to see City Chic clothes on women, you identify, as being "more like you". I think a request came through from quite a few girls that they'd like to see a model with an "apron of fat". Hmm. Well...

I never really discuss this much on the internet, but here goes.

Ladies, I have an apron of fat.

My apron of fat isn't massive, I carry most of my weight on my breasts, hips and thighs... But, that being said, I am a plus size girl and like many of you, I don't just have a belly, I have a little apron of fat. I usually wear tights (what with living in the UK) and they usually hold this little apron against me. I don't really dress to accentuate my belly, but it's there.

To be honest, in my personal life, my belly is something I've come to accept about myself quite happily... But that took time. When I started dating my partner (of three years now), I knew he could see my hips, boobies and thighs when I wore my clothes out and about - there's no missing them... But he couldn't (in any obvious way) see my little "belly apron". It took me time to let him see I had it, and then even more time before I'd let him rest his hand on my tummy. Today, I feel quite comfortable about it...

I am 32 and wear a City Chic size "Large". In jeans and pants... 18 or 20 (depending on fabric stretch). I am 5'5", with F Cup boobies and size ten feet... I'm not perfect, but I'm pretty happy, feel good about myself and okay with how I am. I like this body of mine... and its little apron of fat.

I also REALLY love that City Chic helps me dress my body so stylishly.

When City Chic asked me to be a blogger (almost two years ago now), I took the request very seriously. So did they. I've been chosen, like the other girls, to help represent the City Chic woman. Like the models who work for CC, I'm representing a brand which is for a woman larger than a size 12... Honestly? City Chic lets me blog with them because I AM plus-size, AM just like you, because City Chic - as a company - recognises and completely values you. I ain't no model. I HAVE an apron of fat and I was asked to be involved with City Chic - BECAUSE I am just like so many of you.

I have a blog of my own, and neither here nor there do I often discuss my body (or personal life) so openly... I hope I haven't offended anyone, but also hope you can see what I am trying to say about my being so similar to so many of you girls.

I adore City Chic and by myself (from LONDON!!) have written this with quite some passion today. This brand makes me feel great. Fierce, gorgeous, beautiful, happy, FEMININE and FASHIONABLE.

Short Crazy! By Teer Wayde

Summer has rolled around again (well for Melbourne locals it changes every day) and all I want to wear is shorts. I'm short crazy!!! So I slipped into my two favorite styles on offer from City Chic and did a little photoshoot.

My tips to wearing shorts :

- Find length you are comfortable with
- If you are afraid to show your bare legs opt for fish net stockings or other non sheer stockings
- Wearing high heels with shorts will always make your legs appear longer and leaner
- Have fun, be brave and show off those pins!!

Now this style I had at the start of the year and they have been so loved that they have gone a little grey. I'm wearing these in a size 14 and I find them more roomy than the previous seasons version. That much so I measured them up against my pair from last summer and they seem to be a half a size larger.

I like my high waisted shorts a little tighter as I found these folded slightly at the crouch. But they are so comfortable and sleek I think I can rock them any way. They are loose around the thigh and if you are not sure about the high waist I can promise you that this style does suck your tummy.

Worn with the Cheeky Stripe Cardi which matches perfectly. I adore this cardigan and I have to admit I wear it to death. The stripe patter, bow waist belt and black panel really define your shape. Whether you wear this with shorts, jeans or a skirt the black panel under the bust makes your curves pop! The lace up feature at the back is really cute too.

Light Navy Short Shorts - $69.95

Next I wanted to show you at similar style in blue. This style is very nautical and can be worn just as easily as the black pair above. I've paired them with a very pinup style top but you can wear any complimenting colour and print with these shorts.

The fabric is not as thick and a little more stretchy than the black pair. Giving these a more laid back beachy feel.

Colour me Happy

I haven't been my usual happy self lately. Last week I fell down the stairs, an Ambulance ride and a Hospital visit later saw me limping on home with a badly sprained ankle. My ankle (or as I call it my Elephant Foot) is still almost double the size, so I haven't ventured far from my front door for over a week now. Brisbane is also a grey place at the moment, we have probably seen one day of sunshine since the start of the month. Needless to say I needed something to brighten up my week, so when my parents offered to take me to lunch this past weekend I knew I needed to wear some colour!

City Chic's Kaftan tops are my new obsession, my favourite being the Garden Floral Kimono Top which I am wearing in the above photo. I love everything about it, the colours are beautiful and instantly cheered me up, it's the perfect light weight over shirt, it ensures I have arm coverage but remain cool and comfortable. I plan on collecting all of the Kaftan's as an easy way to brighten up my wardrobe.

The Bahama-rama collection dropped last week and along came even more colour, these are some of my MUST HAVES!

1. Stripe Play Maxi Skirt - I am absolutely in love with this skirt, it is gorgeous! I would wear it exactly how it is shown on the gorgeous model. Perfect with sandals for a BBQ or with black wedges and a bolero for a funky NYE outfit.

2. Lace Back Print Tunic - The moment I saw this Tunic I HAD to have it so I rushed to my computer and ordered it. The print is absolutely gorgeous and the tunic is very flattering. I will be wearing mine on Christmas Day!

3. Flash Zip Tunic - I adore Tunics and this is no exception. The purple colour is amazing and I love how versatile the tunics are. I could wear it to a festival with tights and sandals or with heels and stockings for a night on the town.

I am finally embracing colour in my wardrobe after years of shunning it for all black pieces and, I have to say I am feeling GREAT! Are you embracing colour this season? What are your favourite coulourful pieces from City Chic?

La Curve Fatale - By Sommer Lovely

On Nov. 5th, 2011 T2 Entertainment and True Sheroes sponsored a Fashion Show at the launch of Waid's new Saturday Night's Lounge in Seattle, WA.

The event appropriately titled La Curve Fatale was truly a celebration of curves.

When I was asked to produce the show I was so excited to bring more awareness to plus size fashion in the Pacific Northwest.

The ladies who participated in the show were so full of life, energy, and sex appeal that I was please to announce to them City Chic had agreed to put their clothes in the show.

The show was beautiful with an amazing turn out of support from the community. The girls looked so amazing in the clothes that some of the photographers did an impromptu photo shoot.

Colourful tops are ROCKING my world.

I am obsessed with City Chic tops at the moment. OBSESSED. For the last few years I have almost exclusively worn dresses with the occasional pair of jeans creeping in. Right now, I am LOVING City Chic shorts, skirts and tops I LOVE that I can pair some subtle shorts or a skirt with amazing colours and blast away the UK Winter, with flashes of energy and magnificent prints.

Just above, I am ROCKING the Crazed Geometric Strappy Top with a denim skirt, black leggings and one of my favourite boleros. I often team this with a sexy (p)leather jacket - so my colour just sneaks out. Apart from this top, which I LOVE, I am totally obsessed with the Twisted Stripe Top (left), that City Chic has released. I mean, HELLO Colour!!!

I must admit to feeling a little jealous right now. With the Summer coming Downunder, you girls will have LOTS of sunshine to bask in, with no need to cover up your chests, arms, legs and shoulders (please remember your SPF though!).

AT LEAST here in the UK, even when it's ZERO degrees, department stores, homes and cafes are all very warm. I rekon I could rock this baby through winter and bring something bright and beautiful to London through the dreary grey months about to come.

Currently, there is a Perpetual light breeze in the UK and I look like I've posed in front of a wind machine.

BEYOND COOL...

I love it as the UK gets cold. You can put thick tights under your dresses, layer your body with thermals and no one knows that under your casually sexy dress - you are snug as a bug!

Honestly, when I ordered the Warrior Maiden Dress from City Chic I wasn't sure how I would go in it. I think it looks SO PRETTY on the site, but I didn't know if I would pull off the unique pattern. When I pulled the dress out of the bag, I was gobsmacked and immediately so pleased I got it! The shape is lovely (it has a low empire line) - and with a small amount of plastic boning to help maintain a smooth curve in the bust - I am so impressed!

I have layered this look with my City Chic Ruffle Bolero and City Chic Leggings (two pairs!!).

There is a lovely place in London called Somerset House that does an Ice Rink every year over Christmas. The atmosphere is BEAUTIFUL, combining Londoners and tourists alike. Everyone drinks hot chocolate and smiles abound! I go there EVERY year - I can not resist it! Now, the weather here is getting cold, but I am yet to pull out my woolen coat - until I do, I plan to stay snug and City Chic sexy well into the Festive Season!

Summer Lovin' had me a blast

Firstly, I apologize for my cheesy Grease reference in the title but the song has been in my head ever since I saw City Chic's latest collection Summer Lovin'. The collection brought along pastel colours and Hilo (or mullet) Skirts and Dresses showing that Summer really is right around the corner. I wanted to share two looks that you could wear to two of my favorite Summer events; The Summer Festival and The Office Christmas Party.

With Summer comes my favorite events; Summer Festivals! I freaking love when City Chic release amazing unique fashion forward pieces such as the Ombre Dream Maxi Skirt I'm wearing above. When I saw it go up in the new arrivals pics on City Chic's facebook page I let out a little squeal and quickly defended it against the facebook haters because, yes it is different, but that's exactly why its amazing. The fact that City Chic do come up with some pretty fashion forward stuff for us curvy ladies is something that should be celebrated. I wore it last night to a fancy fashion launch on Sydney's beautiful harbour (well normally beautiful, the rain and grey skies nearly ruined the night as it was meant to be open air, the organisers had to rush to secure covering's at the last minute which you can see below).

I got a lot of compliments on the skirt all night with skinny fashion girls lamenting the fact that it doesn't come in their size (don't you love when that happens, normally its the other way round!). I fitted in perfectly with the glam beach theme of the event but kept warm by wearing leggings under the skirt. I teamed the skirt with a mix of vintage and Australian designer pieces and some statement jewellery in my usual kooky way.

In the last week, I have been trolling through the City Chic Facebook pages. It is so amazing and inspiring to see so many beautiful women posting their images to Facebook. This last week, I have contacted a few people, who I thought epitomised the City Chic spirit and look... A couple of them wrote back and so, I wanted to share them with you.

Justine posted her image to City Chic's Facebook page and it quickly received a barrage of compliments.

And of course it did - she looks stunning...

When I wrote to Justine, I asked her what she loves about City Chic... her reply was enthused!

"I am new to City Chic, but from the moment I put on the garment, I felt like a "head-turner". I felt flirty, sassy, classy, and confident that the dress was showing off my best features! I love City Chic because they offer a variety of designs that are contemporary, fun, and against the grain of the average plus fashion choices."

I think all of us love City Chic for similar reasons... certainly, I felt excited that Justine was NEW to City Chic, confident in the dress and then also ready to share it with ALL us City Chic girls. Facebook is fabulous for that - and the CC page is all about that kind of community!

Just because I'm a big girl does not mean I just want to wear a tent to cover everything... And I certainly don't want to dress like my mother like so many other plus size stores do...

Rock Of Ages

I have a confession to make; I am a Musical NERD! I am obsessed with Musicals, I enjoy them as much as Festivals and Gigs, they bring me so much happiness, over the past few years I have seen many; Saturday Night Fever, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sound of Music, Grease, I could go on but for your sake I won't. At the start of the year I came across the Musical 'Rock Of Ages' a Broadway Musical which was at that time making its debut in Melbourne. What intrigued me about the show was that it was made up of some of my favorite 80s songs and also featured one of my favorite Australian musicians as the lead role (Justin Burford, the singer from End Of Fashion). I considered hopping on a plane and making my way to Melbourne to catch the show but I resisted and I am glad I did because Rock Of Ages opened this weekend in Brisbane and I finally got to see it!

I don't want to spoil the story line but I will just say if you are a huge fan of 80's music like myself and rate bands like Bon Jovi, Journey, Foreigner, and Whitesnake as some of your favorites then I urge you to look out for a performance near you. I enjoyed the show more than I have enjoyed some of the Concerts I have been to. The Cast are so energetic, they perform flawlessly and Justin's voice left me speechless. Rock Of Ages will have you laughing, singing, and wanting to jump on your feet and dance within the first few minutes of the opening number.

First of all, please excuse the mirror shot but I quickly snapped an outfit pic before I rushed out the door and was so caught up in my excitement that I forgot to snap another at the show. I wore my favorite City Chic piece the Fringe Detail Tunic I know I have raved about this tunic in past posts but I just love it so much. I think it is extremely flattering and most importantly I feel comfortable and incredibly confident when I wear it. The fringe detail gives it a bit of a quirky edge. I love it so much that I ordered a second one to keep because I know I will wear this until it either becomes see through or falls apart. I have only just embraced waist belts and I don't know what I was so scared of, I adore my Diamante Bow Belt and I think it adds a cute touch to my outfit.

Have you checked out City Chic's latest collection 'Mad About Men?' I know I love mostly black outfits but I must admit I am really loving the colors. I love the Key To My Heart tunic, it is perfect for these warmer days and could even be worn to one of the Summer Festivals coming up. I am in love with the Skater Girl Dress it can be dressed up with some funky accessories and heels for your work Christmas party or teamed with flats for a cute Summer BBQ dress.

Trend Watch: Palazzo Pants

These City Chic Palazzo Pants are so bang on trend that its not even funny. Palazzo pants have been doing the rounds of street style blogs for a couple of months now and have also been on runways both here and abroad. The good news is unlike other pant trends this style of pant is totally forgiving to curves! Similar to how a maxi skirt works at hiding problem areas, the pants skim over all your bumps and lumps to help create a clean silhouette. The larger, flared hem line helps balance out your shape and the higher waistline defines that area giving you the perfect hourglass figure. Colour Clash

As soon as I saw this dress as part of this weeks new arrivals, I knew I had to have it. Its the perfect dress to try out this seasons major trend of colour blocking with its beautiful and colourful floral print.

I chose bold gold and yellow accessories and matched my fuchsia manicure to the floral design.

My red pedicure also matched the print but clashed with my fuchsia nails which made for a winning combination even if I do say so myself, plus the red looks amazing against my yellow sandals.

I think you all may have been able to tell my last few weeks here in Budapest have been INTENSE! Little time to sight see and LOTS of time to work. As luck would have it, I managed to meet the star of the film (um, Brad Pitt, which was amazing and unexpected), and despite looking like a sleepy little lady every day, I have had a visit from my LOVELY Mr. Darcy.

Today, (as in RIGHT NOW!) I have gone for a casual but cute look for work - I told you a few posts back that recently I've gone REALLY crazy for City Chic singlet tops and this SPOT top is the current fave! I wore it today with a short denim skirt, leggings, bolero, boots and a grin.

At night, I team this look with a jacket, scarf and pout...

I am so sleepy in all these shots. Sleepy, but feeling good. Next week, I will be back in the UK and talking London Looks... I can not wait to see what's happening this Winter on the streets of London!

Hey City Chic ladies hope you are all doing fantastic this month, I have had a full schedule this month with the hype of the rugby world cup here in New Zealand and general life duties, That I literally had no time to dress up and get pretty with the fun colors spring has inspired me to wear. On the positive side I have a formal birthday dinner to attend tonight and I thought it would be an awesome opportunity for me to get dolled up in my city chic gear and show you all what I picked out for this occasion.

So this is what I picked out for tonight, it is the Floaty Princess Dress from City Chic which came out in the Pretty Candy Collection this dress is so free flowing and comfy to get me through the formalities of this birthday dinner I knew it would be perfect for the occasion, I honestly think that this collection and its colors are spot on for Spring and with the weather warming up here I just cant get enough of the chic pieces that come with this collection, for my accessories I am wearing a city chic ring, which I purchased awhile back from now along with a mixture of my silver city chic bangles. To finish up the outfit I paired it with my baby pink wedges so what do you think ladies? . If you caught my last post you would remember that I had a dilemma. My problem was I was in love with too many City Chic pieces and I couldn't decide what I wanted so I asked for your help. Well ladies, I finally made up my mind and needless to say I am THRILLED with the choice I made...

ROSEY DENIM DRESS


BLACK CHIFFON BANGLE SET

It was a hard decision but I finally decided on the Rosey Denim Dress and I am so pleased with my choice. The dress is gorgeous, so comfortable and the pattern is so cute and very me! I love how versatile the dress is, I was wearing mine with my leggings and a bolero, prancing around my room in my wedges and I felt like a million dollars! I almost felt like if I grabbed my favourite clutch I could walk straight out the front door and into a nightclub and look and feel fantastic. I can also team it with sandals for a cute lunch date dress. I was feeling the Halloween spirit and tried my dress on with my gigantic hair bone to get in the spirit of things. Now I know the bangle set wasn't part of my wishlist but I have been looking for a cute bangle set for a long time. I wanted a set of bangles that I could wear to a fancy dinner but also to a Festival for an added touch of bling. The Black Chiffon Bangle Set is amazing! Aside from how great they look you get 9 bangles for $19.95, and you can't go wrong with that can you?

A little outfit & a little Budapest...

I thought I could start with a little video!!

This week I am sharing two fabulous things with you.

The first is an outfit I rocked this week, at work, here in Budapest.

Believe it or not, this is a little bit of a different choice for me. I wear a lot of dresses that have beautiful, high waists but this is a skirt-cami combo! This skirt is the City Chic Assymentrical Fold Skirt that was released in July. I have teamed it with a basic cami and also gone in for tights, boots and a CC shrug. Now, when I first put this all on, I had the cami tucked out and went to breakfast looking quite different... I can honestly say, until this week, I had NEVER worn a skirt on my high waist with a top tucked IN. I have always thought I looked odd. After breakfast, I got back to my room and stood in front of the mirror for about ten minutes...

Tucking in, tucking out, tucking in, tucking out...

I decided I would try tucking IN for the day, took photos and went to work.

I got SO many compliments. People kept saying, "I love your dress"... at which point I would sheepishly say thank you. I love this look. And it has suprised me. I think sometimes, us girls get a little safe in fashion - I certainly do. I often choose things I love, but because I KNOW the clothing style - they are also very easily safe and confidence building.

This week, without complete confidence, I tried something new. And... I TOTALLY rocked it! YEAH!!! It feels good, and I recommend giving it a go, even if you just try something new at home (or even in the change room! JUST to see!!).

The second thing I would like to share with you is a little bit of Budapest. After last week's post, so many girls on Facebook mentioned they had lived here or had parents from here. These photos of my walk along the Danube River are for everyone, but especially for them! Enjoy. xxx.

A Quickie in Budapest!

This is a quickie fashion post from Budapest! Some of you will recall that earlier in the year, I was traveling for work and was in Malta... Well - now we're shooting in Budapest and because my Mr. Darcy isn't here to take the photos - it's me and my mirror!

Budapest is experiencing sunshiney skies, but, is still a little cold at the moment! AND as Europe moves to Winter, all my clothes are about looking good and staying warm.

I am wearing the City Chic Heather Rose Tunic - which, admittedly has an ultra sexy lace back panel that I can't show off due to it being so cool here! To combat some of the cold, covering my shoulders is my staple City Chic Party Knit Shrug (I LOVE CC boleros) and I have matched it all with leggings and my sweet knee length boots.

Do you know where I wore all this sexiness? WORK! BLARGH! Ha ha!

In the next post, if I get some time away from the my desk, maybe I should post shots of me looking FABULOUS in City Chic in Budapest!

My Wishlist

I have been home sick this past week so sadly I haven't been on any adventures that I can tell you about. I have however spent a lot of time sprawled in front of the TV (watching Winners and Losers) and in bed on my laptop looking at clothes online. I thought I would share with you Five of my wanted items from City Chic. My closet is currently overflowing due to my online shopping addiction so I'm hoping you can help me narrow down my list to two (maybe three) items. Here goes...

Coco Dot Mesh U-Wire Bra & Coco Dot Mesh Control Brief

I absolutely adore City Chic's Intimates Collection. The pieces are all sexy but cute, revealing yet flattering, most importantly they are designed to be curve friendly! I adore the 'Coco' Bra and Brief combo, just wearing it would give me a confidence boost. Since the Bra and Briefs are sold separately this will have to be Wishlist items 1 and 2.

Tribal Future Dress

Usually I shy away from colour in favour of blacks with splashes of colour or patterns, but the moment I saw this dress I was mesmerised. I adore the bright colour, the cut, the length, and I love the black 'band' under the bust and the black straps. I would consider wearing this with a black bolero to the Melbourne Cup Races. I would be embracing something different but would still feel great.

Rosey Denim Dress

I LOVE this dress! I adore the flower pattern on top of the black. It is perfect for Spring, I could wear it to a lunch date with the girls, on a picnic, out clubbing, the options would be endless. Did I mention that I really love this dress?

Hi Lo Maxi Skirt

Last but not least is this fabulous skirt. I think it's amazing! Yes the famous 'Mullet Skirt' where it's all business at the back but a party in the front! This skirt is so funky and on trend, almost every shop I go to has a variation of the 'mullet skirt'. It's perfect for Spring and Summer. I could even wear it with sandals to a Festival!

City Chic Intimate Range - A Little Va Va Voom!

The City Chic Lingerie Launch and Sale have gone off with an absolute BANG. AND it seems that whether you have a small bottom, large bottom, big boobies or little boobies - you have completely embraced the range.

I come in at a racy 18G bra size in Australia and was BEYOND excited to get my hands on the Coco Dot Mesh Underwire bra. Seriously. My boobs love it. I also adore the tummy and thigh shaper... I don't wear shapers too often, but when I do, I like to feel comfortable, confident and sexy - the City Chic Smooth and Chic Thigh Shaper, NAILS THAT!

It has been such a MEGA year for City Chic and intimates. When the sleepwear range was launched, I got SO excited - I now own the prettiest nighties, pajamas and robe that I have had in years. They fit me well and they make me feel so beautiful.

Really.

The City Chic Intimates Range is beautiful and made very well. From what I have heard through the Grapevine - City Chic got some experts in to really help craft these pieces for you. They wanted to look after you and your curves and make you feel like the beautiful women you are.

I love that the City Chic Intimates range is cute and sexy and supportive and comfortable. The range seems to have the word YES written ALL over it.

I'm wearing Hope's Festival Outfit!

Sweaty but CUTE! I LOVE this City Chic Diamond Monotone Top!

Between myself, and my fellow City Chic blogger Hope - there is ten years. But... strange things keep happening and we keep picking the same outfits for things! I usually try to plan my CC Blog posts on the weekend, before I am due to post. So this weekend I went out dressed in my City Chic fashions and took some pictures, ready to post during the week... Then. On Monday, I log in here and HOPE has gone ahead and posted my EXACT outfit as her FESTIVAL look!

Ha ha! So, here I am wearing it.

I forgot to snap a pick, but this look is BEYOND AWESOME with big, moody sunglasses!

Not only is this look perfect for the current Festival Season in Australia, but I am loving it here in London as we enjoy one final blast of sun for the season!

I decided to team my Diamond Monotone Longline Top with my City Chic Bolero, Denim Skirt and Crop Leggings. I LOVE this look - it was suddenly 28 degrees and I knew I wanted a light top, hint of skirt and crop leggings. I find the Monotone print on this top fantastic and love the shape and design. I was sweating like a block of melting ice all day, but loved the floaty nature of my clothing as well as the sunshine on my calves. I didn't see any rockstars, but I did feel sun kissed and beautiful!

I am heading into much colder weather here in the UK in the next few months. Things are going to get REALLY frosty. I am heading to Budapest for a month with work and then come back to freezing cold London and a fab holiday in Switzerland.

I need some new, lovely thick Winter Boots. Well, really, I just LOVE any excuse to shop!

Hello Festival Season!

My favourite time of year has begun; FESTIVAL SEASON! My October started with a bang when I managed to score freebies to Parklife in Brisbane. You would all know by now that I'm not a huge dance music fan but I still won't say no to a Festival. I love them, some people like to shop, some people like to go to the movies but the way I relax 'Hope style' is by grabbing my friends and heading off to a festival or gig for a few drinks and a day or night of dancing and great music. I managed to catch sets from Mylo, Santigold and Diplo who were all very entertaining but there was only one band with one amazing front woman who I was excited to see...

The queen of curves in the music world; Beth Ditto from Gossip! I first wrote about Beth Ditto almost a year ago and my love for her confidence and fearless approach to fashion hasn't changed one bit! Although I won't be taking style tips from her anytime soon I will be taking a leaf out of her book and amping up my confidence! Gossip took the crowd by storm, I couldn't see anyone near me who wasn't on their feet dancing and singing, especially to Gossip's hit 'Standing in the way of control' which showcased Beth's amazing voice and some pretty awesome dance moves. Miss Ditto is a born entertainer and it is so great to see a plus sized woman gracing the stage at a Festival and getting the attention and appreciation she deserves. I left after Gossip because I didn't think anyone would be able to compare to their show. Beth Ditto is an amazing performer and such an inspiring woman, it has now become my number one wish to one day interview her so watch this space you never know what can happen ;).

FESTIVAL ESSENTIALS

I thought I would show you what my number one Festival essentials are, these are my must have items I bring with me to make sure I last the whole day! My iphone is sadly my pride and joy, I love my sparkly case and the photos and videos I can take throughout the day! I never bring my wallet to a Festival (I have a fear that I'll drop it somewhere and lose everything) so I always take a small coin purse with my money and I.D. A comb and hair tie is always handy so I can tie my hair up if I get too hot from dancing, a comb is a must have because my full fringe has a mind of its own on hot days. I always bring a small pack of panadol because you never know what can happen at a Festival with drinks, loud music and a long day of dancing! Make up wise I take a small powder compact, eyeliner, mascara and of course a bold lipstick. I am loving my RayBan sunglasses at the moment, especially because they are leopard print! My gold sandals from Kmart were a $10 bargain, they are comfortable and practical and if I break them I can cope with the loss. It was surprisingly windy and freezing at Parklife so I was glad I wore my black bolero which was a gift but City Chic have some amazing boleros and shrugs in stock at the moment, you can find them here. I am in love with the Diamond Monotone Longline Top on sale for $39.95 at the moment it is a steal! I ordered a size up for this top so it was more flowy and I could get a way with wearing it as a dress/tunic. It was perfect for Parklife, I teamed it with my Full Length Leggings. I couldn't have been more comfortable at the Festival!

City Chic have just released some more new arrivals as part of their Pretty Candy range. I LOVE the Plait Shoulder Tunic - I think it will soon become part of my 'Festival Wardrobe'

My glamourous Perth fashion week holiday nearly was a complete wash out, who knew it could rain every day for nearly two weeks in the desert city? When I saw the Pretty Candy campaign in stores the colours instantly reminded me of Gelati (YUM! Who doesn’t love Gelati?). I love the light, floaty fabrics, & the soft, feminine prints in this collection. Some of you have said to me you don’t know how to wear colour or you’re scared because you think it might make you look bigger than you are. The trick to wearing colour is to pick a shade that compliments your skin tone, ensure the item flatters your body shape and choose something that reflects your personality. Colour draws attention so wear it on the part of your body you like to show off or keep it simple and inject a colourful cami or top amongst dark jeans and jackets to break up a solid outfit.

I love the Blue Eyes Jacket it works really well with neutral and lighter colours. I've paired it with Vintage Lace Spot Top over my black Glamourazon Jeans and added the Gold Heart Necklace for a bit of sparkle. I also really like the Self Diamond Cut Out Cami. It's a silky fabric in vibrant yellow, gives great contrast when paired with a Black Shrug and black pants or Jeans (a great example of how to add colour to your solid separates).

I mostly wear dresses.

For me, it is always novel to try out something new and that's what I am trying in this post. A while ago - my signature look involved a City Chic denim skirt, Black Cami top and tiny black bolero...

These days (mostly since moving to London), I am a Dress and Tights FANATIC. But. In the last month or two, I have wanted to branch out a little. Changing up your own fashion is kind of interesting... it can involve an entire overnight change, or a slow start with Baby Steps. For me - the look I am rocking today is a Baby Step look. I want to start wearing flowy tops, ruffles - things that are a little less clingy but still cute and sexy. I just want to TRY it.

This is the Jade Animal Print Top by City Chic that came out in July. I LOVE the jewel colour of the top combined with the ruffle, sparkle and tiger print. This is lovely and flowy... On the tube in London, things get so damn hot, so I've decided to try some clothing with a bit more movement to hopefully offset that. As you can see, I have harked back to my reliable skirt (Sigh! Such Love!) and bolero. I am liking this look but admit I AM a little unsure of myself. I feel casual and cute, but I would love to know your opinions...

While we are getting to the warmer half of the year our nights are still slightly chilly so this is currently my go to Jacket when I'm out. The fitted cropped shape flatters your curves and the zip detail at the back (view bellow) give you a little more room if need be. Filled with all the Military features you would expect this is a very funky jacket. I love the clasp closure at the front and the detail on the collar.

I've paired this up with a simple black pencil skirt from my wardrobe and some killer black pumps from Wittner but there are so many more styling options!

My All Time FAV! - Lola Parker

First, let me just say that I am a “CLOTHESOHOLIC.” I have so many clothes that I am constantly going through my closet weeding through the items that I haven’t worn in awhile to make room for the new stuff. Dresses are my all time FAV but, right now I am in love with City Chic’s Feather Fantasy Skirt. I love this skirt so much that I have packed it in my suit case every time I have flown to a different state for business or holiday. It is the one clothing item I can not live without.

I have worn it for many nights out with the girls, to work, for a photo shoot and on a date. I love the movement of it. I like to dance and its fun the way the fringe and feathers seam to float in the air while I’m twirling. I like to wear it with a tank or a corset pulled up high with a belt for a high waist look. Every time I have worn this skirt I have gotten a plethora of compliments (from men and women).

Perth Fashion Festival VIP Opening Night

As I said in my last post, I've been invited over to Perth as a VIP guest of the Perth Fashion Festival to bring Perth fashion to the rest of Australia. Day one of the festival saw Perth's number one fashion star Aurelio Costarella open the festival with a beautiful gala launch and runway show at the C Restaurant, a revolving restaurant in the heart of Perth with amazing views.

It was a beautiful homecoming for Perthite Aurelio Costarella as he hasn't shown his collection to a local crowd for nearly five years, instead showing in Sydney or Melbourne. The crowd were very appreciative of him gracing them with his majestic gowns and cocktail dresses, it was a very glamourous affair.

Intricate detailing is key to a Aurelio Costarella gown. Feathers it seems are the next big thing as a few Perth designers have been using them.

The location was the perfect backdrop for the stunning dresses.

The invitation said to dress evening so I pulled out all the stops and donned this beautiful City Chic gown which constantly received compliments all night long. I was very excited to be so dressed up as I never get the chance to gown up and be elegant and glamourous, I felt like a princess.

All Black Affair - SommerLovely

My month of September has been none stop and of course I looked to City Chic to keep me looking unstoppable. In between my travels for work I made a stop in my hometown Los Angeles, CA. I was invited to several parties for Labor Day weekend. I decided to wear my City Chic Roxanne Dress to an All Black Affair in Hollywood, CA. It was perfect. Just the right shortness to show off my legs and stay looking young and chic. I was comfortable all night.

A few days later I was off to Washington D.C. for Fashion Night Out Plus in Alexandria, VA. I was modeling in the fashion show that night and wanted to mingle fashionable but comfortable. I choose to rock the City Chic Vinyl Waistband Tunic with leggings and pumps. It was definitely a conversation to. The vinyl waistband defines your shape nicely but also gives a bit of edge to the outfit. Just how I like it! Definitely another great City Chic piece.

SPRING CALLS FOR COLOUR - Sonya Siale

Hey City Chic Ladies, So its Spring here in New Zealand and I just had the urge to include colour in my wardrobe for this bright and lovely season, So I headed on down to my local City Chic store to pick me up something that looked spring or summer inspired. I typically wear a lot of black and so when I first glanced at this dress I thought nope this is so not for me, but of coarse being the adventurous person I am, and my subconscious saying “come on just give it a go”, I just took a chance at trying it on, and boy was I lucky I did, this Spliced Sailor Dress is everything I could imagine and more.

The first thing I noticed was that the style of the dress was amazingly flattering on my figure I couldn’t believe my eyes when I actually saw the shape this dress gave to my body, I am so use to being disappointed with my past experiences in buying dresses elsewhere that I strayed away from my love of wearing dresses until now, I have to give great credit to City Chic for designing clothing which fits us curvy ladies so perfectly, So a HUGE thank you to City Chic for helping me Re find the love of wearing dresses again, Here is a picture of how it looked on me.

And with this month being the Rugby World Cup Season here in New Zealand the dress sure came in handy for Saturday Night’s game, Here I am again and I am wearing my dress with a pair of Nude Pumps, And a couple of my City Chic bangles, and I could not finish the look off without my Irish Flag. This dress definitely is a Hit for me and sure to grab attention, I can definitely see this dress transitioning into summer, so I am above and beyond glad to have this sitting in my closet.

Ladies Night

As women we all know the importance of having 'Ladies nights' for some it's staying home with girlfriends and cooking a dinner, or loading up on chocolates and wine and watching a movie with girlfriends, for others it's getting dolled up for a night on the town – that's my idea of a perfect ladies night! I made some new friends recently who originally bonded over our love for City Chic and other curve friendly fashions, they later formed a group that was devoted to living a healthy and positive lifestyle and learning the importance of self love. A Girls weekend was planned for last weekend and a night out was on the cards for the Friday night. We all met up at a hotel in Brisbane (my home town) dolled ourselves up, had a mini fashion parade, sang Adele at the top of our lungs and got ready for a night on the town (a few bottles of wine may have also been devoured). As you can tell by some of the photos most of the ladies are City Chic fans, the hotel room almost resembled a City Chic shop! Sisterhood is a very special thing and I would be lost without my friends (both new and old). I had such a great time bonding with new friends, and what made it even more special was that we were all like minded Curvy Chic's who were ready to flaunt our curves on the dance floor, (with the help of some HOT City Chic dresses and a bold, sexy and sassy attitude!). The ladies also went out for a group dinner on the Saturday night which I sadly couldn't make, City Chic still made a huge appearance though ;).

The Lace Back Floral Tunic, Stripe Military Girl Dress, and the Military Shirt Dress, all made an appearance, as well as City Chic jeans and even a few 'vintage' City Chic pieces! How amazing do all the girls look! I love how City Chic can make us curvy girls feel and look amazing. I am wearing the Fringe Detail Tunic in a Size M, honestly ladies how is this dress not sold out? It is amazing, yes at first when I tried it on I was a bit worried I looked a bit Jon Bon Jovi-ish circa his fringed jacket days but once I got over that I realised how amazing it looked on, and most importantly how comfortable it felt! It's extremely versatile as well and can be worn to a variety of occasions. I wore it with a pair of Full Length Leggings, Black peep-toe wedges and a flower halo in my hair. I would also wear it to festivals in the summer with leggings and a pair of sandals. The Fringe Detail Tunic is actually HALF PRICE on the City Chic website at the moment so I'm going to order another because I know I will wear mine until it falls apart. I'm going to order my best friend one as well and help share the City Chic love! The City Chic Spring collection has just launched. I love the Pretty Mermaid Corsage dress and the Sexy Bandage Dress. Both would be perfect for a Ladies Night filled with cocktails and dancing. City Swim

I'm off on a bit of a working holiday tomorrow, I'm headed to Perth for the Perth Fashion Festival. I'm going over a little bit early so that I can enjoy the lovely warm weather and beautiful beaches that Western Australia is known for. I've never been to Perth so I'm pretty excited about the trip, even with the massive work load I've got on for the festival (9am starts 11pm finishes...eep!!!) so the few days of relaxation beforehand will certainly come in handy. City Chic have perfectly timed the release of their new swimwear collection for my trip, I'm in desperate need of some new bathers and I love what City Chic have done for us curvy gals. The above swimsuit is my favourite in the collection as I am obsessed with polka dot everything at the moment and I have always favoured retro styled swimsuits. The flared ruffle skirt is flattering to all figures, I've actually always wanted a skirted swimsuit, can't wait to wear this poolside come tomorrow afternoon.

This dress style ruffled swimsuit is another figure flatterer. I love the purple ruffle trim.

A good pair of boardies is an Australian Summer essential.

Bikini bottom and tankini top separates you can mix and match.

An ultra glamourous swimsuit which comes in as a close second at being my favourite piece in the collection. The print is bang on trend, tie-dye style prints are huge again this Summer. Who knows, when I try them both on in store later today maybe this will come out as the winner?

It's a Showy Business at The Tinker, Tailor Soldier Spy Screening!

Last weekend, Mr. Darcy and I headed into London to go to the Cast and Crew Screening of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I did a small stint on the film and was lucky to get a glimpse of the finished movie before release. I really love this film and I'm very proud of it.

Now, a cast and crew screening isn't as glamorous as I would love it to be... it involves - waking up at 7am, ON A SUNDAY(!!) and heading to Leicester Square on the tube to be security screened (for recording devices) at 9am... before the film starts at 10am. They do the screenings early so that they don't interfere with regular showings later in the day. And while it's always listed as "Cast and Crew" it's really just crew members in the cinema at that time!

So. Last Sunday morning, in pouring rain - I woke up and with my man trudged into the city. While a "social" event, screenings are also work(ish) because you see all your colleagues. I always like to look casual, always NEED to be relaxed (it IS a Sunday, afterall), but always want to look a little "put together" too...

The look I went for is a current favourite and all of it comes from City Chic! Shorts, Grey Cami, Leggings, Sexy Boots and Party Shrug. I actually LOVE this look and have seen it become a "signature" way for me to dress. I think my body looks great in this combination and it lets me feel ULTRA comfortable, while also looking really nice.

The necklace, along with jam, was bought at a little English Countryside Fete! I like to embrace the Englishness of EVERYTHING!

Here is a photo of the cast from Tinker Tailor at the Premiere last night... I might have worn strappy shoes and a dress for that one! ESPECIALLY with such a good looking cast!

It was my sister Ebony's 25th birthday last week and I was back home in Melbourne to help her celebrate. One thing she wanted for her birthday was to find the perfect party look that could go from dinner to dancing without too much hassle. Recently my sister has gone from a Aussie size 10-12 to a size 14-16 and I guess she has been struggling with the change, finding pieces not fitting her in her own wardrobe and then the nightmare of negotiating shopping when your self esteem is already at a low. All I can say is thank god for City Chic. Going into a store and having everything she tried on fit her like a glove really made her day, and you can see it on her smile in the change room shots below.

My birthday pressie for my little sister was her very first manicure at a fancy Melbourne salon, don't the coral nails look fantastic alongside City Chic's latest offerings?

The first dress Ebony tried on was the City Chic beaded belt dress $179.95 AUD which she loved as purple is her favourite colour.

The second dress was the City Chic longline ruffle tunic $69.95 AUD which matched her coral manicure perfectly. Ebony has great legs from and she loves showing them off so this dress got a huge tick from her.

The third look was the City Chic stripe pencil skirt $69.95 AUD teamed with City Chic knit chiffon top $59.95 AUD. We felt this look would really work as an office look rather than a night of drinking and dancing at a bar but Ebony still had it in mind as the final look.

Ebony loves nautical sailor style dresses so as soon as she saw the City Chic spliced sailor dress $99.95 AUD on the mannequin she knew she had to try it on.

She picked up a pair of the City Chic crystal drop earrings $14.95 AUD to go with the outfit. So now comes the big question, what look do you think she went for?

Nauti but Nice - Kirsty Kovacs

Nothing says summer like Nauti-Cool themed fashion! It’s a simple & reoccurring trend that comes back bigger and better every time! It’s all about whites, dark blues, stripes and an injection of red to make a classic & fresh fashion statement. I love it!

Pleeeease don’t let the thought of horizontal stripes put you off! Ladies I know some of you feel like you can’t wear them but I think Curvy girls can totally rock horizontal stripes (and anything else that’s on the ‘not for plus size’ list)! It all comes down to knowing your body shape, & choosing items that suit your shape. Next time you’re in store keep an open mind, ask one of the lovely CC girls for some help and step out of your comfort zone – you might be pleasantly surprised J. As for colour, you can easily personalise your nautical look by injecting your favourite colour into items that are navy & white. City Chic is about being bold. We encourage you to be fashion forward but also to express yourself.

I love it when the seasons change; it means I get to re-invent my self through fashion. New collections, colour palettes & designs excite me and I’m always looking forward to what City Chic will bring us. Warmer weather is almost here and I thought I’d share with you ladies a standout item that is at the top of my hit list for spring/summer.

Aphrodite Maxi

Omg when this dress came in I fell in love with all the rich colours! A brilliant bold maxi that i can wear anywhere. This dress can be worn to formal occasions with a pair of cute open toe wedges & matching beaded clutch bag (to compliment the beading under the bust). Or you can wear it casually – tie the bottom of the dress to one side of your leg in a big knot, and pair it with some cute gladiator style sandals.

Tip: Majority of maxi style dresses are quite long, if you get it altered don’t be afraid to ask for the remaining fabric back. Depending on how much is left you can get creative by adding straps to the dress, make a heard scarf, or cut it into strips and braid it into a matching bracelet J.

UK Summer Ends with SASS!

When the Butterfly Collection came out recently, I was intrigued. I wear a lot of feminine clothes, with layers and frills - but to me, the Madam Butterfly Collection seemed to have a really vibrant, onslaught of femininity, the likes of which made me curious as to how it would gel with my studded biker boots and sassy attitude.

It goes well!

When I ordered the Lace Black Floral Tunic, I LOVED how it looked on the model, Courtney, but wondered how I would do with such a vibrant and flouncy style. I flipping LOVE it. Sass is a state of mind, and I can tell you that this gorgeous, feminine piece felt GREAT on my figure and gelled well with my overt personality. I love the bunching of material, high waist, pockets and frills. In teaming it with my bolero and leggings I toned the look down a little - however, if I'd worn this with stockings and a shawl, it would have been quite elegant and ready for a date night... as it was, I wore this exploring Fulham and Putney in London... I felt cute, feminine and wistful... WISTFUL because summer is OVER here in the UK and I can feel my need for jackets slowly taking over!!!

As it was, I LOVE this outfit - as did my Englishman, Mr. Darcy. And ladies, ahem, we ended up turning our day into a date night, after all!

The minute I saw City Chic's new collection 'Nauti-Cool' images from Christina Aguilera's video 'Candyman' popped in my head. The video is 50's inspired and marked the start of Christina's pin-up inspired transformation (goodbye 'Xtina' hello blonde bombshell). If you are a closet trashy gossip magazine fan like me then you would have noticed that Christina has gained some sexy curves recently, she's not afraid to flaunt them either. I absolutely adore her transformation and how she has evolved into a curvy queen. With a little inspiration from Christina and a gorgeous piece of clothing from the 'Nauti-Cool' collection you too can be like Christina and channel your inner bombshell. Bring out your inner sexy sailor and grab yourself a candyman!

I will admit when I first saw the Sexy Sailor Dress I squealed a little. It should be called the 'Super Super Super Sexy Sailor Dress' a dress like this needs to be flaunted. I had ten minutes to spare before a movie at Chermside so I did manage to try it on, it is very figure hugging but such a gorgeous dress. I want to buy a cute little sailor hat and wear it out one night. The Sweet Cherry Pie Dress is adorable such a cute dress and a really easy way to embrace the Nautical and Pin-up style, the print is to die for and I adore the detail on the chest. VA VA VOOM, if you want to embrace your inner bombshell like Miss Aguilera then the Naval Gal Bengaline Dress is the dress for you! Incredibly sexy and curve hugging with an amazing tie up back to make the dress really stand out. I want to buy all three of these dresses, I would wear them with my sky high red peep-toe wedges and of course my bright red lipstick.

My word. Moving house is hard... SOME of my clothes are unpacked, but so many are still all boxed up!

I have been in the UK for a mere THREE years and I seem to have accumulated so many things. HOW does this happen ladies! Now, like many of you, I am completely addicted to shopping and love fancy fashions - so that explains all my boxes of dresses. BUT where do all the papers and miscellaneous items come from?

Well. I do shop a lot... Let's just pretend they're all reciepts!

In any case, even with my move, I have managed to unpack essential items. Like my City Chic Brown Pleather Jacket. I tell you - I only got this a few weeks ago and it has become an absolute staple for me here in London. We are in the throes of a wet summer - so, this is exactly what I need.

My life changing dress

Em's recent post The dress that changed my life really struck a chord with me. I found myself nodding and smiling as I read her post and it reminded me of the time I first discovered City Chic and realised that even though I'm curvy I can still be as fashionable as anyone else and look as good as anyone else. I first discovered (Big) City Chic back in 2007 when I was eighteen. I've said it a few times in past posts but back in those days I was at least 30Kilos heavier than I am now and had next to no confidence in myself and was too afraid to dress up because I feared I would stand out even more. I did buy a few (Big) City Chic pieces back then but they were mainly black long dresses that would hide me away. I floated along being too scared to embrace fashion until I visited City Chic (Chermside) again in 2009, I was twenty then and had lost some weight and was constantly glued to the old City Chic 'Friend' facebook page to see what looks they were bringing in next. I still loved my black pieces but was ready to embrace a little colour (this was a huge step for me) I then discovered the dress that changed MY life...

I fell in love with the multi coloured heart dress the minute I saw it online, I grabbed my mum and my sister and we sped down to the Chermside store to take a closer look. I remember making a beeline for the clothes rack the minute I got in store and taking the XL off the rack, I was still relatively new to City Chic sizing back then so I just assumed I would be the size I was in other stores and didn't even think the dress would fit me. I remember walking out of the change room and the shop-assistant smiled at me and said "honey this is too big for you I'll go and get you a Medium". I tried the Medium on, looked in the mirror and almost cried, my mind couldn't fathom that I could actually LOVE they way I looked in something, and that I could look fabulous! That moment changed my life for the better, I actually embraced fashion and like Em said in her post, began to enjoy going shopping. It began my love for dresses with leggings and made me learn to embrace color even if it was just subtle touches. I learnt not to hide myself away in shapeless 'sacks' and that I could wear fitted clothes and look great but most importantly feel amazing. I wish I had more photos of me wearing this amazing dress, especially a full body one but Computer crashes mean I have lost all but these. I ended up wearing the dress so much that it faded to grey and fell apart so I am on the lookout to see if anyone is willing to part with theirs (wish me luck).

One of the things I love most about City Chic is how the sizing is labelled, I love how instead of being XL-4XL or whatever the 'standard sizing' is, the garments are labelled as XS-XXL I think it is a great feeling for us to know that there is a store that caters for us curvier girls and has labelled their sizes to make us feel great. I love reading that facebook page and seeing comments like "I can't believe I fit into a Size Small" or "I have never been a Size Large in any store" it really gives you a warm feeling.

I owe City Chic a lot of thanks, to begin with the clothes really have changed my life, to actually be able to wear clothes that are fashionable and 'curve friendly' really is a special thing, the best feeling is when you're wearing your new favourite City Chic dress out and a Size 10 girl stops and asks you where you got your dress from because she "has to have it". I never thought I could be as trendy as my friends and be able to love and appreciate fashion as much (or even more) than them but I do now. Blogging for City Chic has also really pushed my confidence up, I love being involved with such a great team and I have learnt a lot from my fellow Bloggers and also from reading comments on our posts and on the City Chic facebook page.

Firstly ladies,

Thank you so much for all the amazing, positive feedback on last week's post. For me, finding City Chic was not just about fashion, but also quite an emotional, personal experience - I am so pleased that last week's post was familiar to so many of you. You know, it is really strange to say that when I found City Chic, I couldn't quite believe I had found something for ME in fashion; posting about that beautiful dress - which let me find my fashion feet was one of the most honest posts I have ever written.

NOW - Let's look at some Gorgeousness. My house is in complete disarray with my having just moved, so I thought I'd look at the City Chic pieces I'm coveting this week and share them with you. I always find it so compelling to read the feedback on Facebook about what people are liking and not liking style wise - we all have such varied tastes, so I thought I might share my faves. x.

My current favourite look for day includes pieces which I think - combined - would be so unbelieveably glam... DAYTIME GLAM:

I LOVE High Waisted Jeans. I love the steady line they give my figure as well as the comfort they afford by tucking away my muffin top. I have been waiting for High Waists to come back online at City Chic so this is very exciting. I am also loving this Fringe Detail Jumper. I love everything about it, actually. The metallic thread, fringe detail and slight skin peeks through the v-neck are all really appealing. This outfit would look gorgeous and casually glam - giving you a great silhouette and absolutely fab, feminine look. Mind you, I would likely wear a pair of chunky boots with this just to edge it up a bit. I love me some hard edges!!

My second set of choices are all about having a SPARKLY NIGHT - both out for an evening and... IN for a night!! (WOOT WOO).

I adore both these pieces. I think the Bling Collie Maxi is both unique and beautiful. I bet my left arm that this dress does a beautiful job skimming a curvy shape thanks to the block colours, line through the centre and drape from the hip. It looks amazing and the sparkles literally just add to it. As for the Super Sparle Mesh Babydoll. Well. Va Va Voom. I own some of the last release sleepwear and can tell you the fit, cut and shape are divine. In fact - my City Chic sleepwear makes me feel great and special no matter if I'm alone - or with my partner. I LOVE the latest pieces and this one - with the sparkles (which are on the babydoll AS WELL as on the panties) is just stunning.

A City Chic Haul! - Sonya Siale

Hey City Chic Ladies so Today’s post is something I like to call a “HAUL” this basically is a insight into my purchases and as an additional piece I decided to put together outfits using the clothes I picked out, I can honestly say City Chic has amazing quality made clothing and every piece I picked out is most likely to become, my favourite clothing pieces of the month.

I picked out a total of 3 items which I will list below

#3 PULL ON SKINNY PANT

I decided it would be great to put together two separate outfits using the clothes I picked out, to give you a general idea as to how I myself as an everyday plus size girl would wear these particular garments. Because I know it can be hard to look at clothing and think how I would wear this? or what would this look like on a plus size figure? So with that said I’m here to help you get an idea.

Outfit #1

In the first Outfit I am wearing the Spliced Utility Tunic From City Chic, This top reminds me of the Military Fashion look which I am very fond of at the moment, I decided the Tunic looked great Paired with Plain Black leggings and my Favourite Military boots to finish the look.

Outfit #2

In the second outfit I am wearing the Ruffle Beaded Top paired with the Pull on Skinny Pant and my Nude pumps; this outfit is very comfortable and great for a work outfit or a night out.

Chic in a Flash - Sommer Green

This past few weeks have been very busy for me. Between work, modeling, and social engagements I have been needing quick easy transitions in a flash.

I have two favorite pieces added to my steady growing City Chic wardrobe; the Harem Pants and the Tribal Weave Tunic. What I've most about these is they are both transitional pieces from one season to the next. Also they are both supper comfortable, and can easily be dressed up or down.

I recently wore the Harem Pants to an early morning call time.

These days with facebook, twitter and you tube you always want to stay chic even in comfort. I choose to pair my harem pants with a simple black tee, sweater cardigan, and cute sandals. Comfortable for an early morning call time but chic and totally facebook ready for any behind the scenes snap shots.

My next look is from a last minute summer evening social engagement.

I didn't have much time to get ready so I choose some ripped skinny jeans, City Chic Tribal Weave Tunic, and leopard print wedges. To keep with summer trends, I pulled my hair up in a cute high pony and threw on some amazing statement piece earrings. The look was a hit and I received so many compliments on my City Chic Tribal Weave Tunic.

My favorite part about both of these pieces is I can easily reverse them next time and dress up the Harem Pant with some heels and tune down the Tunic with a pair of jean shorts.

The dress that changed my life.

Isn't it funny the impact that FASHION can have? Not the impact that fashion has on other people or society, but the impact that our own fashion has on OURSELVES.

This week, I am packing up my house. Darcy and I are moving across London and we are packing up everything we own... In my efforts, I came across a dress. A dress that changed me. A City Chic dress. My first EVER.

Bought in 2007 as a birthday present from my mum. After years of shopping at City Chic, this was my first dress.

For the longest time, I didn't really know myself in fashion. I wore a lot of jeans and t-shirts. I went through grunge and gothic... but in all honesty, I never really found a style that was ME. The style in which you find your confidence and think - THIS is me. THIS represents me and who I am.

That being said through my early twenties (post goth phase), I did have outfits I loved. LOTS of them, actually. Indeed, when I stopped being a goth, my mum convinced me a little colour would be nice and I owned LOTS of great City Chic jeans and tops as I started to try and find myself in fashion.

But you see, despite having heaps of clothes that I loved - I never had style confidence. Do you know what I mean?

I mean I never had confidence in fashion. I never thought to myself - I'm going to wear XYZ outfit and look completely fierce and completely represent who I am and what I like.

That may sound a little superficial. As a plus-size girl though, finding my fashion and understanding more about what I love and how my curves work has helped me feel more confident INTERNALLY. The line that I use to market my personal blog is, "I have great curves and I know how to wear them". And I do. But not always.

When I discovered (Big) City Chic in 2002 in Penrith, it was like a revelation. I was 23 and unsure of my sense of style. I KNEW I didn't want to wear shapeless tents but back then, had few stores to choose from. The day I went into City Chic for the first time, I was like... OH THANK GOODNESS. Sometimes, on the Facebook page - even now, I see girls writing such a thing. The same sentiment - THANK GOODNESS I FOUND YOU (City Chic).

These days, I am sure most of you know by now, I am pretty much a dress wearer. I like feminine style and mostly wear dresses mixed with some sort of hard edge... be it studded boots, leather & lace or perhaps a little rock edge. When I put on my first City Chic dress (the one above), IT JUST WORKED. I put it on, walked out to show my mum and we both KNEW something had happened.

My mum knew, I was happy. I knew - I had found IT. My fashion. My LOVELY, LOVELY fashion. So I wore the dress everywhere.

Yesterday, when I found this dress in my wardrobe, I was filled with all kinds of emotions. This dress. This City Chic dress, which is four years old, changed me. It changed how I feel about fashion as well as how I wear fashion. It means SO much to me. I am sure, in fact, I am certain that some of you must have City Chic clothes that have had the same impact?

I LOVE Tunics!

I have a crush, it's not a person or a band or a living thing, it's a type of clothing. When I wear them they flatter my body, they make me feel happy and proud of my curves, I can wear them in Summer or Winter, to a festival, out clubbing, a lunch date with the girls, even to work. What are they? they are TUNICS! My love for tunics has only recently taken over my wardrobe, I love how versatile they are and how easy it is to dress them up or down, most of all I love how flattering they are and of course how comfortable they are. As a pear shaped girl with a very small chest and upper body (in comparison to my booty) who lives in dresses, I found it really hard finding dresses that fit my bottom area but don't fall off my top area, that was until I came across Tunics! City Chic have a great selection of tunics that can suit almost any event. I wanted to show you a few ways you too could rock a City Chic Tunic!

LUNCH DATE:

The Tye Dye Tunic is high on my 'MUST BUY' list, it is adorable and can easily be dressed up or dressed down to suit a variety of occasions. For a perfect 'lunch date' outfit for a day with the girls or with a special man, you could simply team the Tye Dye Tunic with a pair of the Zip Me Skinny Jeans in Black and slip on a set of Metallic Bangles to finish your outfit. NIGHT OUT:

When I saw the Fringe Detail Tunic my jaw almost hit the ground! I have wanted a dress like this for years! Beautiful shape, length, in black and with sleeves! I absolutely adore the fringe detail, it adds a bit of fun to the tunic and dresses it up a little and also makes it different to just a 'black dress'. Adding the cute Diamante Bow Belt will help to flatter your waist and add a cute and quirky touch of bling. For added 'bling' slip on the Black Cocktail Ring. All your outfit needs now is a slick of Red Lipstick, and a cute pair of shoes ( I'm thinking a pair of red peep-toe wedges) and you will be ready to hit the town. My night with Kevin Spacey in City Chic...

Theatre in London. Seriously. If you come to this city - theatre attendance is a must. See anything! A musical, play, burlesque show, dance performance... anything.

Last weekend, Mr. Darcy and I took in Richard III. Starring Kevin Spacey and directed by Sam Mendes - this play was amazing. Kevin Spacey literally steals the show with a performance that is both gripping and (funnily enough since we were watching a Shakespearean Tragedy)... hilarious. Spacey's Richard drew you in and despite being an absolute villain, as a viewer, I enjoyed him - even loved him; his deceit and gall were coupled well with his lure and tempting sleaziness.

Now, I'm not sure about you - but when I go to the theatre, it remains a really special event for me. Here in London, people dress differently for a show... some wear jeans, some go glam, some dress like they are attending a ball.

Darcy and I were seeing Richard III as part of a date night, so I wanted something figure loving and gorgeous. I also like dressing up - and with the work hours I am doing right now, sexy nights out and special events are absolutely coveted... indeed, I met Darcy right after work to attend this show so had to decide THAT MORNING what to wear so I could change into it AT WORK!!

For my look, I had to submit to workplace hair, but I deliberately maintained my subtle makeup. The City Chic dress I chose to wear has a babe-making shape and beaded bling on the cleavage and sleeve - sometimes I like busy looks, but I wanted a little class and elegance for my night out.

I am wearing the City Chic Military Bead Shoulder Dress that released earlier this year. It was my first bash at wearing it, and I think I completely rocked it!

I felt great. I must say, the play went for three hours and certainly, my seat could have done with being a litle more comfy. That being said, the way this play was put together makes it accessible and wonderful to view. In fact - it is a really accessible play, in that it will soon embark on a world tour. It is really special to watch such an amazing performer work, under such magnificent direction. Also - you can get dressed up and look totally gorgeous in all your City Chic clothing.

I mean, go see it for that reason alone!

Maxing out the Snake Charmer

I've been feeling the maxi skirt recently. I'm not sure if its a Sydney thing or if its Australia wide, but I've been seeing them on girls everywhere and I knew I wanted a piece of the action too. And why not? Maxis are perfect "sin hiders" hiding away your unshaved hairy winter legs whilst also skimming over your tummy giving your outfit a nice line. I'm wearing my favourite piece from the City Chic Snake Charmer collection the City Chic Cammo Girl Maxi $119.95 AUD. Now I'm going to let you in on a little secret, I actually altered the dress and made it into a skirt as I knew I wanted to be able to wear it like that. Before I did that I was wearing my tops over it and it looked fine, but knowing how easy it is to make a dress into a skirt I couldn't resist the change. I'm always altering things to make them work for me, and really you shouldn't be afraid to do the same thing too. The rest of my outfit consists of a brilliant op shop find of a burnt orange blouse that was only $1.60 (gotta love op shops!) and my necklace is made by my talented friend Estelle Dévé, every time I wear it I get lots of compliments. I also wore my new favourite belt (which is exactly what I've been looking for, thanks City Chic!) Vogue Australia's first ever Plus Size Fashion Editorial!!!

Australian plus size model Robyn Lawley, who we blogged about back in June when she landed the cover of Vogue Italia, has gone and done the unthinkable and shot with Vogue Australia. Vogue Australia isn't a title known for its risk taking, and in fact this is the first plus size editorial the magazine has produced in its 52 year life span. Styled by Vogue Australia's Fashion Editor Meg Gray (who, coincidentally, I blogged about back in May) and shot by Vogue Australia's photographer of choice Max Doyle, the shoot is notable when looked at in comparison to international plus size editorials in that Lawley is actually wearing clothes. Often in plus size fashion editorials we see plus size models wearing little more than lingerie or swimsuits and rarely do we get to see them in high end designer clothing. The reason for this is simple, sample sizes which stylists deal with don't come in larger sizes (I should know, I work as a stylist) so what Meg and her team have done here is sourced shop floor clothing that will fit Robyn's ample curves. The results are beautiful, a stunning editorial that hopefully pushes the Australian fashion industry into action, becoming more accepting and showcasing more beautiful curves inside our magazine pages, because as consumers that's what we want to see. Am I right?

See the little cake at the front there? It first featured in my post last year about Birthday Cakes and completely pertained to the film I was working on here in London - CAPTAIN AMERICA!!

I admit it City Chic ladies, this is a completely "My life in UK" oriented post! Last year, you may recall, I posted a few posts about my work life - There was: Working Hard For a Living! and Days Into Night. At that stage, I couldn't divulge too much about the show I was on... but it was the latest Superhero Blockbuster, Captain America. I worked really hard on the show and I wanted to encourage you to see it. It is good old action based fun!

I first became aware of Tess Munster through her fan page on facebook and later saw some of her modelling work, from the moment I saw her I was in awe. She is a true representation of a plus sized woman and what intrigued me even more was the fact she had a very alternative look (red hair and tattoos). If you look through some of her work past and present you will be amazed, Tess has pushed boundaries with her model work and is often seen wearing pieces most girls wouldn't be brave enough to wear, needless to say this is what makes her so intriguing and inspiring. I honestly wish I had half the amount of confidence Tess has. Don't get me wrong I am learning to embrace my 'fuller figure' and work what I have , blogging for City Chic and of course wearing my flattering City Chic clothes has really helped me, but Tess just oozes an amazing amount of confidence. I managed to get in contact with Tess and found out that she is one amazing woman who has become a lovely friend of mine, she loves our Inside Chic blog and is also a City Chic fan! Tess, for our Australian readers who may not be familiar with your work could you please tell us a little about yourself and what you have been up to recently?

I am a Plus-Size Model, Beauty Editor for 'Skorch Magazine', Blogger, and activist for women empowerment. I can currently be seen in INKED Aus/NZ where they featured me for being a tattooed role model for women. I am also a model for a US Plus Clothing Company "Domino Dollhouse", as well as Sick For Cute, and other jewelry/accessory lines. I'm mostly known for being the 'face' of the US show 'HEAVY' where my face was splashed across buses, billboards, and magazines nationwide.

You are admired by many fans, how do you feel about being a role model for plus sized women?
Humbled. I never thought that I would have such a large following of women around the world, from all walks of life, that not only look up to me, but relate to me. That has been the best part of my modeling career thus far - meeting and talking to my fans. Women want to see other women that look like them and that represent them, and I think many of my fans feel that way about me. It's made me more aware of what I do and say, I also feel the pressure sometimes to make sure I'm setting a good example for them. It keeps me on my toes :).

You live in LA which is known to be a city that puts pressure on body image and acting a certain way in order to be successful. Have you ever felt pressure to look or act a certain way? If so how did you deal with this?
It's funny because I thought the pressure I sometimes feel to be a size 0 and tan would come from others around me, but instead it comes from the local media. There are billboard ad's for 'Lap Band' (weight loss procedure) that have saturated Los Angeles, as well as numerous ad's for plastic surgery for just about everything. No one has ever said anything directly to me, but you can't help but get the feeling that people almost "expect" you to look a certain way. Luckily, I have a great group of friends surrounding me that feel just as strongly as I do that being healthy doesn't mean being skinny. They encourage me to embrace my size and I feel confident enough with myself to not let the media make me feel pressured about being curvy.

Your photos exude sexiness and you appear to have a huge amount of confidence that many of us wish we had half of. Do you have anything to say to ladies who may be feeling down and haven't yet embraced or loved their shape?
Listen to yourself and your body. If you try on clothing and you don't instantly love the way it makes you feel, or the way you look in it then put it down! Pay attention to the cuts of clothing that make you feel sexy and hug your curves. Sexy to me is all about the attitude and confidence. You have to believe that you are worthy of people drooling over you, and if you don't, I always say: "Fake it until you make it!". Also, dress up on the day's you feel crummy, you will be surprised what a little bit of mascara and lipstick will do to your confidence level.

In Australia we have noticed that plus sized fashion and a more fuller figure is being embraced and accepted more by the public. This became particularly noticeable when City Chic became the first plus sized label to walk the runway earlier this year at Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. One might say a light is currently being shone on the plus sized industry in a positive way. Is this also the case in the U.S? Have you noticed a change in the way plus sized fashion is being looked at?
I have noticed, and it makes me proud of my curves and how far we have come. When I first started modeling people looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was a "Plus Model", now they smile at me and tell me how awesome they think it is that there is a market for us where we are embraced. We have many more choices with fashion now than we did 10 years ago, even 5 years ago! Designers are starting to notice that we want to be sexy too! Plus fashion around the world is no longer looked at as frumpy, but as fashion forward.

City Chic launched their online U.S store earlier this year. How did you become aware of the brand?
I first learned of City Chic through Plus Model Magazine in the states. They posted a review of one of their dresses and I went to the AUS site and instantly fell in love.

What makes City Chic stand out from other plus size stores in the U.S?

City Chic's styles are so edgy and different to anything I have seen in the Sates. My love affair began when I got my hands on one of their pieces and the quality was out of this world. I remember thinking how heavy my dress felt, and how well made it was. It had all of this intricate beading and you could tell a lot of thought had been put into the design of the garment. I also feel like that CC is so much sexier than most of the other clothing companies currently in the US. Lot's of sheer numbers, ruffles, lace, and romance. It's refreshing.

How would you describe your style and take on fashion? are there any "rules" you swear by or do you prefer to carve your own path?

I carve my own path for sure. I like to describe my style as a cross between vintage and modern/horror punk. I am a vintage clothing collector, so I constantly mix era's regardless of if it's the newest style .I wear what makes me feel the best. I am the ultimate girly girl, so I love wearing hot pink lipstick, hello kitty necklaces, and dresses. You will never find me without a flower or bow in my hair, regardless of what era I'm dancing around in that day. On the other hand, I have a bit of a dark side too, and adore wearing statement necklaces with bats on them and pulling my hair in a bandanna. I'm a chameleon.

Lastly Tess, Who do you seek inspiration from and whose style do you admire most?
I cannot pick just one, there is too much fabulousness for one person! I adore Beth Ditto, Peg Bundy (Married with Children) and Gwen Stefani. They all play up bold colors, while mixing different prints, patterns and textures. In one way or another they push the style envelope and adorn themselves in leopard and red lips which are two things that make me swoon. They too have the same concepts I do when it comes to fashion, they don't follow what's the newest rage, or styles. They wear what they love and feel good in and people notice, it's all pure fashion magic.

I love how Tess said that to her being sexy is a mixture of attitude and confidence and that you also have to believe that you are worthy of people drooling over you. City Chic is all about bringing out your attitude and helping you find the confidence to feel sexy. Tess also said that on the days you don't feel your best then dress up to make yourself better, I know if I'm having an 'ugly day' I go straight to my wardrobe and pull on my favorite City Chic dress and my mood gets lifted. Do you know what's awesome? Getting older. I actually LOVE it. This week, I turned 32 and I am pleased to say, I feel fab.

I am not one to go in for a MEGA crazy birthday, but I do enjoy time with my loved ones and birthday smooches with my man. In fact, my Mr, Darcy got me a Kindle. Amazing. I LOVE reading and when I moved from Australia to the UK, I donated almost all my books to charities. I feel so lucky, that I can replenish my collection to a device I can always have with me! YEAH!!!

For my day, I decided to wear my new City Chic Strappy Bling Betty dress with a Knitted Shrug and Belt. I am so surprised this dress hasn't sold out yet, because, seriously ladies? It is AMAZING. I have had so many compliments and seen heads turn. This dress, is a heavy cotton and so shape is strong and holds to your figure. I also love that it is understated, completely classy and has too functional pockets at the front.

I am seeing more of Mr Darcy this week, so will have gorgeous full length shots next time!

I loves it. For birthday treats to myself, I decided on some pampering here in London which included getting waxed at my favourite salon - STRIP, getting a facial in the COWSHED and downloading HEAPS of books to read to my new Kindle.

I love special days - be they birthdays, days off or even days after taking an exam! Days when you feel good and relieved and special... When is your next special day?

Oh - before I go - one last thing. The Snake Charmer theme currently hitting City Chic stores is MEGA here in London right now.
