Retro Red

I had a cute little date on the weekend to see a movie at the Melbourne International Film Festival with a guy I've been seeing for just under a month. It's all very new and exciting, and I am loving dressing up for our dates. I decided to wear this cute vintage inspired red dress by City Chic as it's very floaty and feminine and perfect for a movie date. I teamed it with another vintage inspired piece, this cute embroidered black and red cardigan that I tied at my waist to enhance the line of my curves. Then I added in some all gold accessories in the form of my bag, necklace, rings and even my shoes, and voila date ready! We went to see The Neon Demon by Nicolas Winding Refn, the director of award winning 2011 film Drive. The movie is about a young girl who is new to the cut throat world of modelling, and it literally is very cut throat. It's a bizarre almost horror film with stunning visuals that remind me of Guy Bourdin's fashion photography - think bold deep colours, foreboding shadows and a general sense of unease. It stars some big acting names Elle Fanning, Keanu Reeves and Christina Hendricks, and a supermodel Abbey Lee. If you get a chance I highly recommend seeing it.

The embroidered love heart shaped cherry's are everything!

This dress is just way too cute! No wonder it is called the Cutie Pie dress!

The perfect necklace for the perfect dress.

 Gold accessories for the win!

Gold ballet flats I got for a whopping $2 at Kmart. The thing is they're not very comfortable.

Have you seen a good movie recently? Or did you make it to any films at #miff? Let me know in the comments below.
