Makeup With Marisa // 4th July

The 4th of July is right around the corner and while I may not be American, the U.S.A is one of my favourite countries in the world and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

So in honour of this special day I have created a makeup look with a bold, red lip and a classic cats eye - the perfect look for celebrating Independence Day.

Get The Look!

Hydrate the skin using Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist and then apply it Cosmetics 'Feel The Moment' Primer Serum to the entire face to create a smooth base and to reduce any visible pores. Prep the lips using the Lush Cosmetics Bubblegum Lip Scrub and lip balm to make them soft and smooth - THIS STEP IS A MUST FOR GETTING A PERFECT RED POUT! (For more tips on getting your Pout on Point click here)

Dot Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation onto the face and blend with a damp Sephora 3D Precision Sponge.

Conceal and brighten under the eyes using the it Cosmetics 'Eyelift In A Tube', starting with 'Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer' to get rid of any dark circles and then follow with 'Hello Light Liquid Brightener' to brighten under the eyes and the high points of the face (down the bridge of the nose, centre of the chin and forehead) blending both using a damp Sephora 3D Precision Sponge

Once done, set the eyes and face using the Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder.

Contour and add warmth to the face with the Benefit Cosmetics 'Hoola' Bronzer and add some subtle colour to the apples of the cheeks using Zoeva Luxe Colour Blush in 'Last Love'

Using a fan brush highlight the tops of the cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bone with 'Champagne Pop' from Becca Cosmetics.

Shape and feather the brows using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in 'Medium Brown' and with an angle brush fill in using the taupe shadow form the Bobbi Brown Brow Kit. Lightly apply Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel to hold any natural brow hairs in place.

Because my lips are the main attraction of this look I have kept my eyes very clean and classic so not to over do it.

Using a fluffy brush, wash a matte, nude shadow (I used 'Laetus' from the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette) over the entire eyelid and up into the crease. I didn't apply any colour to the eyes and kept it very neutral to make my pout pop!

Then add a little more 'Champagne Pop' from Becca Cosmetics to the brow bone to give it a golden glow.

Line the upper lash line with the Kat Von D 'Tattoo Liner' and flick out at the ends for a classic cats eye.

Apply two coats of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara to the upper and lower lashes to create sexy, voluminous lashes.

At the start of this makeup look we prepped the lips using a lip scrub and balm so your lips should now be ready to rock that red lip!

When using red lipstick, lining the lips is absolutely essential. If you don't have a lip liner that perfectly matches the lipstick shade you plan on wearing, then you can opt for an invisible lip liner which is colourless but still defines the lips and stops any colour from bleeding outside the lip line.

For this look I used the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Invisible Lip Liner followed by the it Cosmetics Blurred Lines, Smooth Fill Lipstick in the shade 'it Girl'. This lipstick is honestly one of the smoothest and creamiest lipsticks I have ever used and the red pigment is absolutely gorgeous! This lipstick certainly lives up to its name as it filled in any fine lip lines and created a smooth and even coverage.

Slow and steady definitely wins the race when it comes to applying red lipstick! Take your time and create the perfect cupids bow that will take your makeup look from zero to one hundred!
