Makeup With Marisa // 5 Tips to Sexy Summer Skin

With Summer right around the corner it's time to start preparing for the sexiest skin ever!

Slip, Slop, Slap
No matter what time of year is it sunscreen is essential!
The harsh UV rays, especially in Australia, damage the skin which leads to early aging and increases the risk of skin cancer and melanoma. I have inherited fair, English skin and burn easily in the sun so I like my sunscreen to have an SPF of at least 30+ protection. Apply to your face and body (don't forget your ears!) and if you're heading into the surf be sure to reapply when you get out. Also be sure to look for foundations that contain an SPF so you'll look flawless with and without it!

So leave the leather look to your fave Louis Vuitton and enjoy safe and sexy skin!
Get that sexy summer glow by adding illuminators / highlighters to your makeup routine. Use alone on the high points of your face (tops of cheekbones, brow bone, cupids bow) or mix into your foundation to add a shine from within.

Dry skin is a sin in summer so by regularly moisturizing you will prevent the skin from drying out. I like to use a formula which contains Vitamin E or Shea Butter - not only does it smell delicious but it really nourishes my skin as it absorbs these hydrating properties. Don't forget to moisturize your lips too. Nobody likes chapped lips so by applying a moisturizing balm daily it will keep those dry lips at bay.

If you've been in hibernation this winter and your skin hasn't seen the light of day, fake that summer glow! With so many great self tanners available you can get sexy, summer skin in an instant! Be sure to prep your skin by shaving the day before and exfoliating to get an even result. Before applying your tan, put a generous amount of moisturizer on your hands, feet, ankles, knees and elbows - this will help prevent tan build up in the areas which are renown to be dry and that you would only want to tan sparingly.

If the thought of self tanning is a little scary use a gradual tanner that builds your tan up over time or use a shimmer lotion to give you an immediate glow that will simply wash off!

Don't be tempted by tanning beds, they are extremely dangerous and can lead to skin cancer.

Drink at least 2L of water a day. Water not only hydrates the body but is proven to prevent headaches, make you happier and make your skin glow! Regular water intake ensures new cells are forming which helps to improve the colour and texture of your skin.
