The Spring Racing Carnival is just around the corner and with it brings all the questions of what to wear? It all starts with the right dress, whether you're lucky enough to be attending all the racing meets or just attending one this Spring Racing season then City Chic have the perfect frocks for you.
Derby Day is the first racing meet of the Spring Racing Carnival and this year will be held on Saturday 1st of November. Derby Day marks the commencement of Fashions on the Field competition and sets the tone for the rest of the carnival with it's sophisticated black and white dress code. Nothing is more classic and glamorous than a monochrome colour palette of black and white teamed with a dark red lip and matching nails - a reverse French manicure modernises the look. Finding the right bra is just as important as finding the perfect dress and City Chic have a great range of strapless bra's in both black and nude.
The race that stops the nation, the Melbourne Cup is the first Tuesday in November and is celebrated across Australia. If you're headed to the race itself or attending an office party or just the local pub dressing up on cup day is always part of the fun. This year expect to see a lot of yellow come race day as not only is the yellow rose the flower of the Melbourne Cup but yellow is a hot colour this spring. The Melbourne Cup is all about having fun with fashion and pushing the boundaries, not being afraid of bright colours or standing out and what better way to do that than with bright yellow?
Oaks Day is known as Ladies Day and is the perfect day to glam it up with your girlfriends in tow. It also marks the final of the Fashions on the Field competition with entrants wearing their most feminine of outfits. What's more feminine and sophisticated than a royal blue themed outfit inspired in part by the queen of sophisticated elegance herself, Kate Middleton and her stunning sapphire engagement ring.
Stakes Day concludes the Spring Racing Carnival with a fun day for the family. There is a little ones Fashions on the Field competition and entertainment for all ages. It's the perfect day for relaxed glamour, something light, fun and still chic. Head to toe florals is the perfect playful yet luxurious look for a fun day with the family. To make a cute memento of the day take some polaroid photos and let the kids doodle around the borders - makes a change from the usual instagram upload (you can still share them on instagram though, just snap a pic of the finished photos in your kids hands - you'll probably get more likes too)
