Black and Red in Reading

Photobucket

Seriously. City Chic Skater Dresses. I feel like I almost don't need to write anymore. I've mentioned in a previous post that I was late to the Skater style - but I tell ya, Ladies - now I'm there, I am happy and stuck. I LOVE them.

The dress I'm wearing for this post is the simple black Super Skater Dress that's still available through the US site. You can see - I've pretty much stuck with the black theme on this one - but the red belt inspired red lips and (for the UK Winter), my RED scarf...

Photobucket

OMG I love this look so much I could burst.

With my 3/4 sleeve shrug, as well as my tights, boots and Winter Coat - I was rugged up and warm on a day out in Reading. ESPECIALLY thanks to the Ponte style fabric!

This was a fun day out actually Ladies, I was shopping with my boyfriend for the most inane things - but we held hands, laughed and just enjoyed spending time together. I love how simple days can be the best ones. I also felt gorgeous, so you know - that helps.

It *was* a little strange trying to get photos of my outfit in Central Reading! In London, there are tourists EVERYWHERE - so NO ONE bats an eyelid when someone poses for the camera - but in Reading - in the Mall, it's not such a tourist spot! But heck. A babe is a babe is a babe. And I felt like a babe in this!

Text a photo of you in this set to your partner while they're at work and see how long  it takes them to get home that night, heck they may take the afternoon off and end up with a speeding fine it's just that sexy. Just make sure you don't include your face in the photo, you don't want it to get in the wrong hands.

Baroque Peplum

I am obsessed with all things peplum right now. I've always loved the shape on my body so I'm really loving that City Chic has so many peplum options in store right now. Not only are peplum's universally flattering but they also help hide problem tummy's and love handles. As soon as I saw this floral peplum top I knew I had to have it. The ornate floral print reminded me of one of my favourite collections from Dolce & Gabbana ever, their Fall 2012 Ready to Wear collection which was inspired by their native Sicily and its baroque religious traditions.

Outfit details
Floral peplum top City Chic Floral Peplum Top $69.95 AUD
Black pencil skirt City Chic Ponte Pencil Skirt $69.95 AUD
Metal belt City Chic Metal Plate Belt $29.95 AUD
Gold + red ring City Chic Red Gem Ring $14.95 AUD
Floral headband DIY (tutorial here)

Dolce & Gabbana Fall RTW 2012
Inspired by the Dolce & Gabbana runway show I teamed the look with a small ornate evening bag and luxe gold and red jewellery. I painted my nails a deep blood red pulling the colour from the print of the top.

My red Miu Miu sunglasses completed the look with their glitter red frames and gold arms. The DIY cream floral headband added a personal OTT touch.

I still love a good flatform shoe and these patent black babies are a current fave.

Are you loving peplums right now too?

Steal Her Style - Blogger Edition

Stylish Spanish plus size blogger Ana Pizarro of The Duchess recently blogged this stylish peplum and floral shirt look which she wore to a meeting with her theatre group. Ana's blog is full of inspirational photography and imitable style, she sure knows how to rock a peplum. This particular look is perfect for the office, meetings or a chic brunch and you can easily recreate the look with City Chic pieces.

Style tip: Button up your shirt all the way. A buttoned up collar is chic & a big trend right now.

Gabi Greg of Gabi Fresh fame looks smoking in her chic black peplum top belted with a reflective belt and worn with a coloured pant. This look is Gabi to a T, on trend and chic with a youthful edge which shows off her best assets. As a plus size columnist for In Style magazine in the USA Gabi knows her stuff so my advice is to take cues from this stylish blogger and replicate her look stat!

Style tip: Over sized sunglasses complete the look.

PSFWA part 2

As I mentioned in my last post I was lucky enough to be invited to Plus Size Fashion Weekend Australia (PSFWA) which was a really fun filled and packed weekend of glamorous activities with some mighty fine plus size bloggers from all over the country and the UK! One of the highlights of the event was our trip to the Benefit cosmetics boutique in chic Paddington for an eyebrow tint and wax which for many of us was our first time of the addictive beauty treatment.

This is my scared face. I needn't have worried though as the pain isn't nearly as bad as I imagined and its literally over in seconds.

Afterwards you are left with the most perfectly shaped eyebrow I have ever seen as demonstrated here by Caitlin of Closet Confessions.

A blogger event is never without some goodie bags.

Carla of Messy Carla fame was our special guest from the UK.

Ashley from This is Ashley Rose checks out her perfectly shaped eyebrow.

Gisela Ramirez gettng excited.

Back at PSFWA HQ Carla and I tried our hands at ORLY gel manicures.

The PSFWA cake.

Yum!

Nicola from 2 Many Cupcakes enjoying the view over Sydney.

I just had to snap her full outfit as she wears the City Chic floral blouse so well!

Melissa of Sugar Coat It wearing a City Chic swim suit down by the pool. So chic!

Grill'd for dinner with the ladies.

The Garden Goodness burger at Grill'd is my personal favourite. A vegetarian burger done well!

The view over stunning Sydney at night.

Another highlight of the weekend was the curvy clothes swap. We all brought with us a selection of unwanted but still good quality clothes to swap. Its a great way to get rid of pieces you don't wear any more while hopefully finding something that you will love. You can tell by this photo that we were raring to go!

The clothes were laid out in one of the hotel rooms in something resembling order.

Then it was a mad but fair scramble to find the best stuff in the pile.

Melissa taking a moment to zen out.

Caitlin in one of her finds.

Gisela scored this blue dress that fit her like a glove.

Genevieve from Work It Own It Use It and Olivia of Wait Until Sunset modelling their finds.

A Curvy Clothes Swap is a great way to get rid of unwanted garments and find new pieces without spending a cent. Why not organise one with your friends, family and co-workers? You don't need a fancy hotel just a room big enough to host everyone and away you go. The best bit is seeing someone take something you once loved and wore and give it new life, styling it in new ways.

PSFWA part 1

Late last year I was lucky enough to be invited to the inaugural Plus Size Fashion Weekend Australia (or PSFWA) with some amazing Aussie plus size bloggers and one special guest blogger from the UK. From left to right we have Jeanie from Inspired Wish, Nicola from 2manycupckaes, Ashley from This is Ashley Rose, Olivia from Wait Until The Sunset, Caitlin from Closet Confessions, Genevieve from Work It Own It Use It, Melissa from Sugar Coat It, Me, UK special guest Carla from Messy Carla, Gisela from Gisela Ramirez and Amanda from Amanda's Musings. Behind the lens (and the lady behind the whole event) is Dani from Danimezza. We had in house shellac manicures, a plus size clothes swap, Benefit eyebrow tint and shape, a Grill'd burger dinner and an exclusive showing of City Chic's next season collection. To say we had a fun weekend is an understatement, we had a ball.

Held in a penthouse apartment in Sydney's Meriton Serviced Apartments World Tower the view was amazing.

City Chic's buyer showed us the new season collection which is inspired by the trends coming from Europe. Think neon brights, peplums, studded detailing and sheer. The collection is getting released this month, some pieces are already in store and the look book is online.

This blazer in on trend hounds tooth with leather look cuffs and exposed metal zips had all us bloggers going ga-ga. Its the perfect statement blazer to wear over a LBD or to team with jeans and will be in store this month.

STUDS - need I say more? AND its already in store and online City Chic Stud Collar Tunic $89.95 AUD

Collar tips are everywhere right now, so happy to see them on plus size garments too!

City Chic gave all the bloggers a goody bag each full of jewellery and vouchers. Genevieve was very excited.

Caitlin talking about the new season with City Chic's buyer.

The amazing shoes City Chic's buyer was wearing!

Gisela and Carla enjoying the champers during the showing.

Genevieve trying on the neon yellow peplum jacket which is one of my favourite pieces from the new collection.

Team City Chic with Olivia.

My picks from the new season. The neon yellow peplum jacket is perfect for those balmy Summer nights and as a bonus it covers off two trends - neon and peplum. The houndstooth blazer is just too amazing to pass up. I am obsessed with collar details so the studded collar tunic and the collar tips blouse are no brainers. I need all these pieces!!!

Do you see anything that takes your fancy in the new season collection?
