The Sunnyside Stables!

Boombands Em visits the Sunnyside Stables in the UK wearing City Chic.

Life's been a bit funny lately and has seen me spending quite a lot of time out of London, in an area called Sandhurst. It's pretty beautiful here and just a short walk from my house is a cute, little stable - that seems to dominate my weekends!

I LOVE the Sunnyside Stables. There are lots of horses and ponies and an added bonus is the fresh blackberries that are ready for picking - in abundance!

When I head to the stables, I always ensure I'm feeling cute - but dressed comfortably! It's been HOT in the UK lately - so comfort - especially when playing outdoors, is KEY! My outfit for this post sees me in City Chic Shorts, Animal Print Top and one of my Old CC Shrugs (macrame and PERFECT for Summer!!).

My shoes are a little iffy with this outfit - but because I'm living between Sandhurst and London at the moment - I sometimes have to make do!

Loves! xxx.

Things are heating up!

If you are a fan of City Chic on Facebook you may have noticed a special sneak peak last Friday. In Brisbane the days are beginning to get warmer and longer, and the sun is beginning to shine brighter and stronger. This means one thing, Summer is about to creep up, and with Summer comes my favourite City Chic collection; SWIMWEAR.

City Chic gave us a sneak peak of their collection last week. Judging by the photos I am going to have a hard time selecting just one piece. The worst part is I don't even have a pool at home so I have to find a few more excuses to splurge. For anyone wondering, City Chic have announced that selected styles will have underwire and most styles have convertible straps which can be worn normally, crossed at the back, or removed for a strapless look. This means they are even more versatile! These are a few of my favourite pieces in the upcoming collection;

This collection makes me crave Summer and warmth, I can't wait to get my hands on the new Swimwear! You can check out the rest of the 'sneak peak' here.

Which Swimsuit are you most looking forward to seeing?

Selected styles will begin to arrive in store and online next week so make sure you keep an eye on City Chic's Facebook page and website for more details.

Cleo Magazine - Plus-Size Style Stars

I have some very exciting news to share with you, I feature in a cover story in this months Cleo magazine Australia (the September issue). See where it says 'Big Girl Blogs, meet the new Plus-Size Style Star's'? Well I'm one of them, along with fellow Aussie Bronny from Fat-Aus and fashionable New Yorker Nicolette from Nicolette Mason who I had the pleasure of meeting at the YFF conference in I attended in New York a few years ago with the City Chic team.

Cleo interviewed me a few months back, so I have been eagerly awaiting the release of the issue for a while now. It was very exciting to see it was a cover feature, and then extra amazing to open to page 68 and see the article in all its hot pink graphics glory, which matched my main outfit photo in which I'm wearing my favourite City Chic piece to date, the pink sheer shirt dress I wore to Melbourne Fashion Week as seen in this post. The article itself is really positive, reinforcing everything I write about on this blog and my personal blog about how plus size women can be just as stylish as their straight sized counterparts and how the fatshion blogosphere is really helping women gain confidence in their bodies and what they wear.

I'm really excited about the magazine (if you can't already tell) Have you picked up your copy yet?

Lady in Red

As much as a LBD (Little Black Dress) is a must for every woman's wardrobe so is a LRD (Little Red Dress). Red is the colour of love, it exudes sex appeal, sassyness and confidence and these three City Chic pieces take that vibe to a whole other level.

City Chic Spliced Hem Skater Dress $99.95 AU

City Chic's classic Skater Dress is back, this time in  bold statement making red. The black hem on the City Chic Spliced Hem Skater Dress $99.95 AUD breaks up the bold colour and the black waist belt sinches in and defines your waist. Wear this dress with statement heels and your whole outfit is complete!

City Chic Orange Cold Shoulder Top $69.95 AUD
Who doesn't love a sheer blouse? The modern shoulder cut outs on the City Chic Orange Cold Shoulder Top $69.95 AUD have been hitting the runways around the world, from Dion Lee to high street chain stores its a big trend right now. For those not brave enough to go down the full sheer route the blouse comes with its own cami, but if your like me and not afraid to rock sheer 24/7 then you can ditch the cami. Its up to you how you make it work!!!

City Chic Siren  Cowl Neck Tunic $89.95 AUD

A great piece for a girls night out, the City Chic Siren Cowl Neck Tunic $89.95 AUD is one hell of a sexy dress. The black bands on the waist help to define the area and the cowl neck makes the perfect high fashion statement. Teamed with leggings and some ballet flats it is great for the day, but for night add some fishnets and killer heels and you'll be sure to knock em dead!

Are you a fan of red? Will you be rocking any of these pieces? Please share your thoughts below xoxo

Channelling my inner Pin Up

How do you like to spend your Sundays? I'm usually curled up on the couch catching up on TV Shows or having a long relaxing lunch with friends. Yesterday I decided to do something different, I heard about the Rockabilly Festival Greazefest and decided to check it out. The above is a photo of myself (did you recognise me in my wig?) and two of my closest friends; Tiff and Deb. Tiffany (left) runs Dropdead gorgeous couture, if you have ever wondered who creates the hair clips/bows I am almost always wearing then Tiff is your go to lady. I had a great afternoon walking around the Markets in the warm Sun and checking out the vintage cars. It's a little sad to admit but one of my favourite Movies is Grease and I may have got a little excited when I saw some of the cars that reminded me of the movie.

I really wanted to go all out with my Greazefest outfit and embrace my inner Pin Up. City Chic's new collection Ahoy Sailor also gave me some inspiration. I wore a dress I bought from one of the market stalls at Greazefest and teamed it with my trusty CC Full Length Leggings and my new favourite piece, my long sleeve sparkle bead shrug. I also did a sneaky shoe change before I left the house, I thought my silver flats added some more sparkle, I felt fantastic in my outfit!

Which City Chic item would help you embrace your inner Pin Up?

Hello Sailor.

Oh wow. Sometimes, when City Chic drops a Collection - it makes my world explode. I LOVE the latest Ahoy Sailor Collection, especially since it's such a great interpretation of the ever popular Nautical range.

Let's face it, Nautical is a Classic style that reboots almost every year. It reboots because it's so popular and because us beautiful fashionistas CAN NOT resist it. To be honest - I've never been super hot on the Nautical Wave, but I have to say - every now and again - the trend is NAILED and redefines itself with its gorgeous fashion style.

My favourite piece from the Current Ahoy Sailor Collection, without a doubt, is the Nautical Anchor Jacket. It looks amazingly tailored, has beautiful piping and a great stripe pattern. LOVE it.

There is something unequivocally stunning and classy about this range. I like the tailoring and sophistication as well as the styles and playfulness. What a great range. Go CC!

The latest Nautical Range will take a couple of months to make it through to the United States website, but you can head to the "New In" section to see the latest styles coming through!
