It's getting cold in here!

I'm not sure about the rest of the world but right now in Queensland it is absolutely FREEZING! The cold usually doesn't hit us until late May so I am very unprepared, my Winter wardrobe really needs a quick update (I am typing this in my leopard print Snuggie and Hello Kitty Slippers, so fashionable :P). I also just booked a Melbourne Holiday for three weeks time so I really am in need of some warm and Fashion Forward clothes, Melbourne is the Fashion Hub of Australia after all! Once again City Chic have saved the day and have brought out many items that have made my Winter 'Lust' list.

BOUCLE JACKET It is no secret that I am a huge fan of red on black pieces. This jacket is amazing and would be perfect for my Winter wardrobe. It can be easily styled at teamed with a black dress, tights, black wedges and red lipstick for the perfect dinner/clubbing outfit.

This combination just screams Rock n Roll and would be perfect with a pair of Ballet Flats hitting the Melbourne laneways. I am in love with the T-shirt, it has a very vintage feel. The jacket is amazing and I love the detail on the collar, it gives the jacket a little more edge and keeps it different from every other pleather jacket out there. I am not a 'jeans girl' by any means, I have lived in dresses and skirts for the past six years, this Winter though I am looking for a change. I have heard wonderful things about City Chic's skinny jeans and this Winter I am going to embrace the trend and give it a go!

Layering is always an easy way to add warmth for Winter. I adore this all black combination. The Scoop Top is thick enough to add warmth during the day but thin enough to not make you over heat. I am in love with 'Peter Pan' collars and this dress is extremely cute. I would finish this look with my favourite leggings for the perfect Melbourne Shopping outfit.

These are just a few of my must have City Chic items for Winter. I can't wait to head in store and check them out in person.

What City Chic items are on your Winter 'Lust' list?

Fashion Week Essentials

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia begins next week and I can't wait. I'm covering all the shows and I'll also do some trend reports over here to keep y'all in the loop and on trend. The best bit about fashion week is all the pretty invites you get sent in the mail and this year the designers really out did themselves with some pretty and colourful invitations. I have a feeling we will be seeing lots of colour again this season just from the looks of the invites. Well we'll soon know so check back here through the week for my fashion week updates to see if my colourful predictions rang true.

I thought I would share with you my essentials for getting through fashion week.
Bag A statement bag is a must, everyone will be carrying designer but my budget doesn't stretch that far so I try and find the most unique piece I can within my budget and so I found this studded number in a cheap and cheerful Chinatown boutique for $55, score!
SLR Camera A must for all the street style and front row snaps I'll be taking.
Prada LG smartphone For tweeting and instagraming directly from the front row.
Business Cards Networking baby
Vintage glomesh purse A glam way to carry my cash
Tissues When working long hours in close proximity to others you are bound to get sick, and every season the dreaded 'Fashion Flu' makes its rounds so I always like to come prepared.
Karen Walker sunnies I'm no Anna Wintour so you won't be seeing me wear this front row haha.
Make-up bag For touch ups on the go.

City Chic faves of the week

City Chic Urban Safari Hi Lo Dress $99.95 AUD
This dress is such a statement piece. The mustard colour is all kinds of hot right now and the cut is just so flattering. I can see myself wearing this to Australian Fashion Week next week with a black blazer and a chic black wedge and getting street snapped by all the international blogger guests.
City Chic Ponte Skater Skirt $69.95 AUD
A classic skirt, every girl needs an a-line skater skirt in their wardrobes. The way this shot is styled is the perfect way to wear it, throw on a blazer and some cute ankle booties and walk out the door, too easy.
City Chic Miss Perfect Dress $119.95 AUD
Peter Pan collars still get me all hot under the collar. This is such a sweet dress, perfect for winter with some opaque tights and a trench, tres chic!

A little too sweet? A little much edge?

Boombands Em with Black City Chic Dress.

You know what I love about City Chic? So many of the dresses are flirty and girly - but also - can be worn as part of a more serious life too! When I saw the Anna Lace Dress come online - I knew I had to have it. It has a great shape, pseudo cross-over at the front and lovely, flirty, little sleeves with contrasting strap work on each shoulder. The sleeves are key for me here, actually. Like many CC girls, I enjoy spaghetti straps working with boleros but I find this dress great, because it allows for subtle coverage which also looks really graceful. These sleeves aren't heavy - but offer a cute piece of coverage which I kind of like.

For a work meeting recently, I teamed it with a skinny belt (in black, although I rekon something like lilac would also be really cute here) and Mimco headband. Looking at the pictures - I'm not 100% sold on the headband working well this dress and my choice of footwear (my BELOVED boots), but I wore it on the day and felt pretty great! I wonder now though if my head is a little "sweet" for my footwear edge? Or! Ha! Maybe my hair is a little neat - like, the headband WORKS - but my hair is WAY too straight... MAYBE! Something isn't quite right though. What do you rekon? Should I have lost the headband and gone towards my usual style of femme with a bit of edge? Or, should I have stuck with heels and worked a sweeter feminine vibe?

I think the dress has a delicious shape and is a nice break from the normal LBDs out there. This has a nice difference too thanks to the pleating. I think LBDs can sometimes get a bit samey, so I like where designs are glammed up a bit.

Another gorgeous dress on the CC site that I'm completely crushing on right now is the Glamour Puss Dress.

This looks like a really gorgeous, feminine LBD - ready for work OR play. My favourite thing about it is the shape, followed by the DETAILS! Check out the bead and sequin embellishments! It's like an easy way to get ready because the dress does so much of the work for you. I can imagine this working with my beloved leather boots too - which for me, makes this a banging LBD option.

Smooches!

Celebrating, CC Style

Yesterday was my 23rd Birthday. You may remember my post a few weeks ago where I asked for some help with choosing my perfect Birthday dress. Everyone was very helpful, I loved the suggestion of a Skater Dress for my lunch and then something more glam for my night out, the 30% off sale last week made that suggestion even more tempting but sadly they all sold out in my size. So what did I decide to wear? Drumroll please..

I decided on the Rock On Ponte Dress. I am wearing a size small. I absolutely love this dress, it is extremely flattering and so comfortable. Being a smaller chested bigger bottomed girl I do find it hard finding the perfect fitting dress but this fits like a dream. Lately I am stepping out of my comfort zone and fulfilling my desire to change my hair colour by wearing wigs. This dress is so gorgeous I knew I had to rock an 'out there' look so I took hair inspiration from Rihanna. I felt like a million dollars yesterday and I have City Chic to thank for that.

What City Chic outfit did you rock last weekend?

Sunshine at the Snow!

Hello Lovelies and Happy Easter!

The Easter weekend in Europe is amazing. It's a time where Snow Bunnies (like myself) make a final dash to the mountains, in the hope of securing some final wintry fun! It is PACKED at the snow over an Easter weekend, so this year? HA! I went a week early, so I could enjoy myself without the crowds!

Snow Outfit from UK store Mountain Warehouse.

It couldn't have been more perfect, actually - as it meant I was there through a SUN SHINY time! Yup! I didn't plan it - but Europe last week, experienced unseasonal heat and so in the village I stayed in - it was about 20 degrees during the day - while up the mountain, it was 5 or 6 degrees. That's high enough for it to feel warmish on the mountain, but still play in snow! YES!! SO MUCH FUN!

This is where I ate lunch!

I was totally unprepared for just how warm it got in the village during the day and had VERY limited shirts available... Luckily though? I had my CC Jeans to hand (have you noticed I have EMBRACED denim??).

I usually wear my jeans long, but had to cuff them to ensure they didn't hit any snow.

My tee is from a UK blog (Trapped in a Skinny World) and was the only short sleeved (non thermal) piece I took on holiday! It got a LOT of use!

Now, for me, taking my jeans away was an excellent way for me to get really accustomed to them. Intuitively, jeans aren't what I reach for in the morning - so in taking them away - and NOTHING else (well, no skirts or dresses) I had to pop them on a lot. I liked it! A week in ski pants and jeans! Talk about conditioning myself BACK into pant wear! I am still wearing the high waisted jeans, but might try lower slung ones soon too... I must say, I do like how these babies work over my hip. I'm like a roundy, curvy little thing, huh! Size 18 jeans, by the way!

Now Ladies. EASTER! I hope you've all seen that on both the City Chic Australia Site and City Chic Stateside Site there is 30% off full priced fashion* and this offer ends on SUNDAY. GET THERE!!

Big Hugs Ladies! Have Happy Easters!

Spoilt for choice

Ladies, I need your help! It is two weeks until my 23rd Birthday, I will be celebrating by hosting a Girls Garden Tea Party and then  hitting the town. My dilemma? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WEAR! I am absolutely dress crazy at the moment and City Chic have just released some of the most amazing dresses, I just can't decide. I have narrowed my selection down to a few choices, please help me decide!

Strapless Skater Dress I absolutely adore the Skater Dress collection, being a small busted but big bottomed girl I find the style to be incredibly flattering. They are so comfortable and gorgeous.

Spliced Skater Dress Keeping with the Skater Dress theme City Chic have just released this beautiful dress in SIX different colours. This does not help with my decision, they are all so beautiful and can be dressed down with cute flats for my garden party and then glammed up with a pair of wedges and some jewellery for hitting the town.

Rock On Ponte Dress When this dress was released last month my jaw hit the floor. The name alone is perfect for me. The dress is extremely flattering and very me. I am in love.

There is something special about wearing a new dress, I love how instantly feminine I feel when I wear one. City Chic's dresses are all designed to help us flatter and flaunt our curves so I'm sure you all understand how hard it is to find the perfect Birthday dress when there are just so many great options.
What is your perfect Birthday outfit?
