Reah Norman for City Chic at NY FFF Week

Wow, what a whirlwind! This past week I (Reah Norman, plus fashion stylist and US City Chic correspondent) headed to NYC to attend the 3rd annual Full Figured Fashion Week.  It was an amazing series of events that included a Media and Buyers Reception, Sample Sale, Runway Competition, White Sunset Cruise, Shopping Crawl, Panel Discussions, and Finale Fashion Show, and City Chic fashion was seen all over NYC during these fabulous events...

The week was kicked off on Wednesday evening with a "Media and Buyer's Reception", where the who's who of the industry had a chance to meet and mingle.  Designers, retailers, sponsors, models, and other industry professionals were in attendance for the private, invitation only event that took place at The SkyRoom in Times Square.

Later in the evening on Thursday was the panel discussion focusing on "The Pulse of the Plus Size Community" hosted by comedian and actress, Erica Watson.  The panel was made up of professionals within all aspects of the plus community, including:
- Jill Hutchinson, Publiser and General Manager for Sonsi
- Katheryn Finney, founder of The Budget Fashionista
- Madeline Figueroa Jones, Editor for PLUS Model Magazine
- Leslie Medlik, Personal Shopper/Wardrobe Consultant for Re/Dress NYC
- Jennene Biggins, Founder and CEO of Voluptuous Woman Company
The panelists and audience discussed many topics that the plus community is currently facing, including the availability (or lack of) plus size fashion, verbiage that is used to refer to plus size women both within our community and in the main stream media, how plus size women are portrayed in the mainstream media and who represents us, and most of all, how we all can come together as a cohesive unit to support and lift each other up.  It all starts with us!

Sommer Green @ Full Figure Fashion Week New York

This past week I attended Full Figure Fashion Week NY. With so many festivities I need many different outfit changes and City Chic was right there with me. The best part about City Chic clothing is its versatility. Not only is it hip, chic, and affordable; I can combine the pieces with existing wardrobe easily.

So this past week I need to be a super hero one day and a fabulous red carpet model the next. While I was a vendor at the Curves in the City Shopping Soiree I needed a fabulous belt to accessories my super suit while selling the latest True Sheroes Comic Book and Calendar. So I chose the fabulous Criss Cross Belt. The belt is wide with a futuristic metal closure that went perfectly with the theme. Not only did the belt tie the look together but it also helped create fabulous curves while accentuating my waistline. I paired this with black furry boot covers, an electric blue short dress, and a dazzling head piece. The look was a success.

For the semi formal finale runway show I wore a long leopard print tube dress that hugged every curve. I wanted a little coverage on the arms for warmth but nothing to take away from the dress. I wanted to keep it formal so I went with the black Satin Bolero. It was perfect. The outfit received many compliments and I felt comfortable, which we all know is key. The arms where a perfect 3/4 length and not to tight. The back fell just below the bra strap allowing the curve of my back to show in the dress.

I must say I am very pleased with all my pieces from City Chic and look forward to my next purchases.

Winter Festival Fashion

If you are lucky enough to have tickets to Australia's biggest winter festival Splendour in the Grass firstly, want to sneak me in? Secondly, you may be wondering 'What on earth do I wear to a festival IN WINTER?' The sun is shining making the day bearable but come night the sound of your teeth chattering is louder than the bands playing on the main stage! You can't run back to your tent and grab a jacket because you might miss getting a good spot for Kanye West, and you don't want to carry around your extra 'night time layers' during the day right? Never fear ladies, City Chic saves the day once again with a few on trend pieces that will see you enjoying your winter festival (and braving the elements) day into night.

I LOVE the Military Shirt Dress it is absolutely perfect for a festival, it's long enough to keep your modesty when busting a move in the mosh pit, it's comfortable and the best part? There are little pockets where you can stash your phone, camera, cash, etc. You would all know by now how much I love leggings and they are the perfect match for the Military shirt dress, they will also help to keep you warm and will still remain fashionable! Adding the Diamante Bangle Set will give you a touch of bling and will look great on your arms when you're waving your hands in the air to the beat of the music. The best part? they're on sale for a steal! These shoes add a cute touch and a pop of color to the all black outfit, they'll also keep your feet safe when you're running from stage to stage. Of course for me a 'festival outfit' wouldn't be complete without a slick of red lipstick and a coat of red nail polish. If you are still worried about the cold you could always add a shrug, they are light weight enough to stash in your festival bag during the day but will help you keep warm at night. I love the Leopard Print Shrug it would be the perfect addition to this outfit.

Splendour outfit

This festival outfit almost makes me want to buy Splendour tickets just so I can put it all together and wear it! If you are going to Splendour or to any other winter festival make sure you tell me all about it and post your City Chic outfit pics on the facebook page

I am loving the new City Chic Jungle Party line, I have my eyes on a number of items! What item has caught your eye? I have fallen in love with the Spliced Uneven Hem Top it is gorgeous. Let's not forget there are still a number of sale items left! We all love a bargain right?

Until Next Time

We love Lucy...

 Lucy Doyle and Fluvia Lacerda

Lucy Doyle is the gorgeous Senior Designer here at City Chic. Like many of us girls - Lucy loves City Chic... Not only does Lucy design so many of the awesome pieces we get to wear... but SHE WEARS THEM TOO!

There is something amazing about meeting Lucy. Lucy's love for City Chic, as well as her love for designing clothing for us girls, is just so evident when you start chatting (would you believe I bumped into her in London when she was on a design inspiration trip!).

Earlier this year in Melbourne, during a Cosmopolitan Styling Session at the new Bourke Street Store, Lucy wowed everyone with her passion and love for the clothes being showcased. BUT - she also wowed them for another reason...

Ah, excuse me, how amazing is this jacket? And look at how well Lucy, ROCKS IT.

When these shots of Lucy in the Spliced Vinyl Cropped Jacket came out, you all reacted completely enthusiastically. You facebooked us and tweeted, asking - WHERE CAN I GET THAT JACKET...?!!?

Well, ladies, I'm pleased to tell you that the Spliced Vinyl Cropped Jacket is ON LINE and IN STORES now and it's already starting to sell out. YES. I was so caught up buying through the City Chic sales, that I nearly missed this jacket when it was released. Luckily for me, I am addicted to shopping and have managed to nab one!

Look at how hot Courtney looks in it too:

Seriously now girls - this jacket is unique, sexy, edgy, innovative and really, really hot. If you want it, I suggest getting in fast. I rekon this is gonna sell like hotcakes!

xxx.
