Working Girl.

Lovelies! My life is all go, go, go at the moment... I am not on a contract, as such, but right now am temping on a big animated feature film. I have never worked on an animation, only ever live-action - so it is interesting and a massive, fun learning curve.

Boombands,Em,Boombands Em,City Chic,citychic,citychiconline,australia,plussize,Curve,Plus-SIze,Clothing,Fashion,Dress,Curvy,Girl,CurvesThe film industry - whether in Sydney, London or LA is a casual, enjoyable place to work. There is always a LOT of work to do, and it is very rarely glamourous, but I love the industry.

My hours can be long. No kidding. The last film I worked on (Captain America which releases in June) saw me work 15 hour days, six days a week. That is a lot! Now, despite long hours and little sleep, I always want to look and feel great at work. We don't wear suits and many people slouch about in jeans and hoodies (so comfy!), but most days, I try and remember to do my hair, pop on a little makeup and hitch on a comfortable, pretty dress.

It is important to me.

I work with computers (believe it or not, I am a creative, technical GEEK!!) and have to concentrate most of the day. My work sees me spend most of my day with a very small team of the same people, but I always want to look and feel good. For me. I want to smile at myself in the mirror in the bathroom...

City Chic helps. BIG TIME. Currently, my newest and most favourite dress is the Spot Skirt Dress (currently sold out online). I like how comfortable it is, while also structured and formed around my body. The dress came with a belt, but I preferred it without, I also have to accessorize this baby with my Studio Security Pass, which I have to wear around my neck... the pass sits low so works well with the dress. In fact, when not at work, I match this with a longer necklace, more hitting my cleavage.

City Chic has some awesome options for us working girls. Dresses that aren't too suit based, but allow us to look professional but also feel pretty.  Gosh, City Chic makes me feel so pretty.

What's your favourite work dress like, right now? I BET you look gorgeous in it!

Runway Rehearsal for LMFF

On Tuesday afternoon all the models flew in from Sydney.
That evening the team prepared for the runway run-through.
THE BRIEF: Be Glam, Be Sassy, Be Sexy, Be Chic!
Beauty. Confidence. Power.
I had no idea what the show was going to be like.
So many people worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
I felt so lucky to be a part of it, everyone was proud to be involved.
It was very cool meeting so many beautiful, successful ladies.
Little did I know how AWESOME the finale dress would be!
Hard to believe, so much gorgeousness in one room.
I couldn't stop myself from taking pictures.
It's not all fun and games, they're all professionals.
Everyone was really nice to me, not sure what else I expected.
I was surprised to find there would be a dance routine involved.
Courtney really is so nice and so very beautiful.
Work it girl!
Strike a pose.
The US girls nailed it on the first go, fierce!
They "walked" hard into the night.
Taking such pride in what they do.
Making sure every finger, foot, shoulder etc is in the right position.
And still portray the image of perfection to critical eyes.
It's a tough job but someone has to do it.
My gosh, they do it well and deserve every perk they get.
After a hard night of walking we break for dinner.
Everybody loves pizza!
Yes, even models ;)
Stay tuned for more behind the scenes photos x

Store Visit: Melbourne CBD Store

After visiting the Chadstone City Chic Store the team jumped in the car and headed over to the Melbourne store on Burke Street. Visiting stores always get me excited because I love meeting the staff.
The gorgeous ladies aren't just there to sell clothes but also there to connect to the City Chic fans and make them feel even more beautiful than when they stepped in, regardless of whether they actually purchased anything. It's these women who make the City Chic stores wonderful.
They always know how to have a good time!
While I was there I was able to help the staff assist an aussie superstar in the change room! It was none other than Deborah Mailman who you may recognise as a key character in one of her more recent works , an Australian Drama "Offspring". Deborah was even more beautiful in person and happily left the store with the Bow Spot Belt Strapless Dress (00053458) and a few other pieces. Dear Deborah, next time I'm in Melbourne, give me a call and let's go shopping... ok!
The fit out looks so fantastic. Just like Chadstone it's nice and open with plenty of space to move around. I have a real soft spot for the over sized hanging polaroids, I want them in my studio!
There are also a lot more screens around the store, showcasing the latest campaign videos and looks. Fashion, catching your eyes at every corner.
 Yes, yes we do!!!
 Everyone loves Courtney x
Come on in and say hi, trust me they're lovely, helpful ladies.

Store Visit: Chadstone Victoria

I'd barely got my feet on the ground before I was whisked off to meet the team at the newly refurbished City Chic store in Chadstone Shopping Center in Victoria, Australia. If you ever get the chance to go there, you should because it's grand, polished and is filled with high end designer labels.
The brand new look for the City Chic store really compliments its surroundings and looks absolutely amazing... so glossy and glam!
The "girls" showcasing the new designs.
The screens right across the store look so cool. I really love it when technology is incorporated into retail in such a fun way. They really do make "an experience" out of simply walking into a store.
I got chatty with a few customers who were browsing during their lunch break and the feedback was really positive. They liked how it was less cluttered and more open. There were no racks to bump into as everything was streamlined and all the newer stock was showcased on the walls so it was easier to find.
From a design point of view I was in love, so many "leading lines" to draw your eye and the black, white and chrome really make the clothes stand out which is the whole point.
I know a few people have had trouble getting their hands on the lingerie range Courtney designed but I know for a fact that Chadstone still has some styles and sizes left, even in the kimono.
How cute are those little hearts!
I really liked the designated denim area and that it was right out the front of the change rooms. All the basic tops, belts and cami's were there too keeping everything within an arms reach.
What I loved the most was the denim display rack. As all the denim was now folded and no longer hung on clip hangers, to show off their detailing and difference in cut, one of each were showcased on a simple rack so you could flick through them like samples. I loooved it.
As a mum I also appreciated the large, wide aisles just perfect for trolley's and strollers. You could easily have a trolley going in either direction and still have plenty of room to walk past or pause to look at dresses without feeling like you were in someone's way.
The team from the City Chic Head Office chats the the Store Manager to get customer feedback on the new store look and feel.
Totally Dynamic!
You all know how I feel about change rooms, it really is where all the magic happens, it's where women truly fall in love with their clothes. I've noticed with most retailers that change rooms tend to be a second though and they don't get as much attention as they deserve... but that's not the case with this City Chic store!
Large, well lit change rooms with soft carpet for your tootsies await you!
City Chic have listened and altered their design of their current change room doors and added the vacant/occupied locks. City Chic really does value their customers views and constructive feedback. If you ever have an idea you believe would improve the store in anyway, no matter how simple it is, we'd love to hear from you.
