Curves Ahead

Mark Fast, Prada, Louis Vuitton.

Curves are "in", at least that's what you would think if you were to go through the runway photos on style.com from the recent Autumn/Winter 2010 shows. Designers such as Mark Fast, Prada and Louis Vuitton all casted "curvy models" to much acclaim. More and more magazines are featuring plus size fashion spreads with real women and the media is reporting on plus size fashion more and more. However is it all too little too late? What are your thoughts?

  1. Love the Prada and LV (specially the Prada! OMG me wants!) but…..what exactly is going on with Mark Fast?

The model is hot but the cut and style of the dress is….well…..eh cosi cosi [include hand motion here] as my Nonna would say (yeah Nonna, rock those Euro trendz!)

Any ideas what fabric he used?

Love the colour but not sure about how it reflects the light of the curves as it doesn’t exactly appear flattering in that light.

  2. Mark Fast is known for his use of knits in bodycon dresses. I agree with you that the model used actually shows that perhaps his designs aren't well designed for curvy girls. I think some better underwear might have helped the look but really it is pretty disasterous.

  3. Agreed. I think I might have seen a spread on him re: this collection in Vogue Australia Online and my first thought was “Is that VPL?” Maybe a pair of undies that didn’t quite cut into the hips/thighs as much may have been better. Or just no undies at all. I love knitwear and have several of these types of dresses (not Mark Fast’s style) but on us curvy girls the cut of the dress is practically imperative as anything knitwear tends to cling more than other materials.
